Interesting article about how the NAR settlement might impact the US real estate market by gleaning lessons from the UK housing market. Part of me feels like this whole thing is overblown, after all real estate commissions have always been up for negotiation and agents aren't going to work for free, they have to make a living. So a steel drop in commissions may never happen, at least not right away. On the other hand, this ruling may blow wind into the sails of discount brokerages like Redfin as home buyers and sellers look to take advantage of this ruling. This ruling maybe will just speed up the inevitable.
