Meet our 2024 Annual Luncheon Chairs – Reginald DesRoches, Paula Gilmer DesRoches, Elizabeth DeMontrond and George DeMontrond! We asked them what their favorite park is in Houston, and they did not disappoint! 🍃 Paula: One of my favorite parks in Houston is Fleming Park on Sunset. I love it for a multitude of reasons, including its serene and peaceful atmosphere, the canopy of trees, lovely benches, a playground for kids, in addition to tennis and basketball courts. I love how Fleming Park is truly embedded in a neighborhood making you feel as though you are in your neighbor’s backyard. 🍃 George: My favorite trail is the White Oak Bayou Greenway bike trail. My wife and I love biking up to the Heights to grab brunch on the weekends. We are excited to hear from our Chairs, as well as special guest Walter Hood of Hood Design Studio about his vision for MacGregor Park. Celebrate our plans to continue expanding, improving, and protecting parks and greenspaces in the Houston region and learn more at: https://lnkd.in/drVrDuVW #ParksByYou #AnnualLuncheon #HPBLuncheon #ReImagineHouston

Houston is a vibrant city with a rich Hispanic heritage. At Houston Parks Board, we're committed to ensuring that everyone has access to our greenspaces. Between June 2023 and July 2024, powered by partnerships with Tecolotl and Imagina Communications, we hosted over 20 bilingual events and collectively spent more than 300 hours translating, interpreting, and conducting outreach in Spanish to ensure our greenways are accessible for all. As we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, we're proud of our commitment to language accessibility and understanding the needs of our Hispanic communities. Together, we're building a more vibrant and inclusive Houston for all. Photo: Anthony Rathbun #HispanicHeritageMonth #HoustonParks #HoustonTrails #BayouGreenways
