The rest of our Landscape Architecture team attended the gala as well as a part of the two-day landscape architecture conference hosted by INASLA on Ball State’s campus last week. With the recent addition of Bryan Stumpf as our Studio Lead for Community Development, we are excited to announce our ordinance services are expanding! There is now an even better way for Indiana communities to manage development. HWC Engineering reposted this
This year the award goes to Newfields for the Virginia B. Fairbanks Sustainable Parking Lot project. This is more than your standard parking lot! It was designed with sustainability in mind to complement the special place its users come to enjoy. NewFields established the Virginia Fairbanks Art & Nature Park as a 100-acre urban refuge of both cultivated and wild landscapes. They have created a diverse landscape that includes areas of mesic forest, wetland, prairie, and a 35-acre lake connected to the White River. Newfields has continually removed invasive vegetation and implemented a diverse landscape for conservation, biodiversity, urban habitat, and of course art. The park is a place where conservation of plants, animals, and soil is part of Newfield’s education program. The new sustainable parking lot now provides greater access for residents to access these amenities and programs. The project was designed by HWC Engineering and constructed by Powers and Sons Construction.
