Announcing today the spinout of HyperCIM, an in-memory computing company founded by Dr Tanya Mangoma and joined by CTO Martyn Gilbert 🎉 The team designed HyperCIM to specifically increase the efficiency of some of the most performance-critical database workloads crippling potential clients working in real-time systems. The market for database management chips is >$90bn and HyperCIM’s hardware targets unnecessary time and energy wasted shuttling data back and forth between memory and processing elements in conventional designs with a demonstrated power performance improvement of 150x vs best-in-class standards. HyperCIM is collaborating with Arm and imec to deliver their first silicon prototype based on TSMC foundry-ready technology in 2025. This rapid progress from concept to mass-produceable prototype, usually so tricky in semiconductors, was possible because HyperCIM is not a discovery; it is an invention, purposefully designed from day one through our systematic venture creation process, with the requirements for success at scale built in through the careful stewardship of Ashraf Lotfi, Jamie Urquhart and Brock Doiron in partnership with Anglo American and through participating in the brilliant Chip Start programme run by Silicon Catalyst.UK. If you're interested in learning more about the company and their upcoming fundraising plans, please DM directly and please do tag or share with anyone you know interested in radical semiconductors innovation!
