I-Pulse celebrates a major milestone in the way metals are found underground. The first Typhoon™ T2 geophysical survey device has been delivered to the Joint Venture founded in 2023 by Ivanhoe Electric and Saudi Arabian Mining Company Ma’aden. The device will be deployed to search for mineral deposits across 48,500 square kilometers exclusively available to the Joint Venture in the underexplored Arabian Shield in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Typhoon™ is the brand name for Ivanhoe Electric’s proprietary electrical geophysical surveying transmitter, which can detect the presence of sulfide minerals potentially containing copper, nickel, gold and silver at depths of more than 1,500 meters. Combined with Computational Geosciences’ proprietary software and advanced AI processing, it locates hard-to-find deposits over vast areas, reducing the need for costly and environmentally harmful test drilling. The first Typhoon™ T2 was shipped following a final test at I-CUBE RESEARCH, the I-Pulse research facility in Toulouse, France, attended by Ivanhoe Electric Chief Geophysics Officer Mark Gibson and Ma’aden Executive Vice President of Exploration Ciaran Halpin. A total of three devices are expected to be shipped to the Joint Venture in Saudi Arabia this year.
