Congratulations to a long-term collaborator of the #IndustrialDesign program Derek Cascio and faculty member Aaron Double from Niche Industries for their #secondplace in the Makelab #LayerLogic design competition at the Industrial Designers Society of America (IDSA) International Design Conference 2024 in Austin, TX. The competition challenge was to design a flat-pack stool using only PLA, with clever joinery that requires no tools for assembly. #Plastica is a lightweight, durable stool inspired by art nouveau and optimized for DFAM technology. Fall is just around the corner and we're excited to bring you our newest Designer feature, Whitney Bouthot, as a part of our Designer Spotlight series, showcasing outstanding design talents in the Boston area. Whitney’s IG: @whitnneyelizabethdesign Whitney’s Website: https://lnkd.in/etm7D98e Designer Bio: My name is Whitney, I’m an industrial designer from the North Shore of Massachusetts and I graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design. During my time at SCAD, I cultivated a deep curiosity for the various processes, materials, and technologies essential in product development. I challenged myself to design and produce innovative products using materials such as wood, metal, fabric, and plastics. My eagerness to absorb new information has helped to develop a diverse skill set, allowing me to create innovative products across a wide range of categories. Since graduating, I have actively expanded my network and continued my ongoing education of practical design. During my spare time, I pursue my passion for equestrian sports, which continues to shape and influence my approach to human interactive design. This journey reflects my dedication to learning and my commitment to pushing the boundaries of industrial design. Here is some of Whitney’s work: Project 1 - Sonorous - A wearable comfort response that is designed to support the treatment of colic, a gastrointestinal complication, common in the equine population. Project 2 - Kitchen Wrap Organizer - Using OXO’s brand guidelines, this organizer stores and cuts kitchen wrap while minimizing unused plastic wrap waste. #industrialdesign #design #idsa #idsaboston #designer #id #designerspotlight #Bostondesigners
