Over the weekend, I was honored to receive the Jerry R. Bayless Alumni Merit Award from Missouri University of Science and Technology. I'm so grateful to the MINER ALUMNI ASSOCIATION for this recognition.
This was my first time back on campus that didn't revolve around a recruiting trip, and I was thrilled to have my dad, Robert Perrey as my guest. The things that stood out to me this weekend were many of the same things that drew me to Missouri S&T many years ago as a student - the expectation of excellence, the warmth of the community, the connection to a personal legacy, and the pride in our shared dedication to solving problems. It was also an opportunity to visit some of my favorite places on campus - especially the Missouri S&T Electrical and Computer Engineering Department, which was celebrating its centennial and IEEE-Eta Kappa Nu's 120th anniversary of Founder's Day.
Reflecting on the last fifteen years, I cannot say thank you enough to the faculty, staff, and students (both present and past) at Missouri S&T who have encouraged me along the way. Their examples are the impetus behind my desire to give back, and I hope they know the ripple effects of their kindness.
I'd like to congratulate the other award winners, and to thank Nancy Hatch and the Alumni team for their hospitality. Go Miners!
