September is National Preparedness Month, ⛑️ an annual FEMA and Ready campaign to promote preparedness and a culture of readiness. 🤝 The 2024 NPM theme is “Start a Conversation.” The theme recognizes that although talking about disasters can be difficult, starting the conversation 🗣️ will help individuals and families begin taking the necessary steps to incorporate preparedness into their lives. ✅ This year, the Ready campaign is focusing on helping the Asian American, Native Hawaiian and Pacific Islander communities better prepare by providing curated and language-appropriate resources and tips. ✨ Team IEM, as part of our everyday mission, is proud to join with FEMA in advocating for preparedness as an integral part of households and communities. Stay tuned 🚨 for weekly videos from IEMer subject matter experts discussing tips for disaster and emergency preparedness. 🔹 FEMA announcement: https://lnkd.in/eYHh6bvR 🔹 The White House proclamation: https://lnkd.in/eJE6EHCy 👀 Watch for our weekly tips on IEM's NPM page ➡️ https://lnkd.in/e4Gtw5kY #NPM2024 #NationalPreparednessMonth #StartAConversation #preparedness #readiness #BePrepared #BeReady #disasterpreparedness #emergencypreparedness #householdpreparedness #AANHPI #FEMA

Last weekend, the IEM Puerto Rico team was honored to participate in the Susan G. Komen Puerto Rico 5K Race for the Cure in San Juan. Over 50 IEMers participated in this 5K benefitting breast cancer awareness and honoring survivors on the island. 💗💖💝 The funds raised from this event are destined to improve the social, cultural, and financial conditions that limit proper medical care and treatment. We are proud to support this cause. Team IEM looks forward to continuing to contribute positively to our community. ✨ #TeamIEM #IEMPuertoRico #IEMPR #RaceForTheCure #breastcancer #breastcancerawareness #cancerawareness #SusanGKomen #PuertoRico

Cybersecurity Awareness Month 💻🔒 reminds us to practice online safety. Team IEM is joining Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency this month to share weekly tips to help individuals and organizations enhance their cybersecurity and implement good cyber habits. Tip #2: Use Multifactor Authentication 🔐 Multifactor authentication, or MFA, requires you to confirm your identity when logging into your accounts. This confirmation can be completed through an authenticator mobile app 📲, a code sent by text message or email 🔢, or biometrics with facial recognition or fingerprints 🤓. Even if your passwords are compromised ❗, MFA can help prevent an unauthorized 🚫 login on your account. Strengthen your security, enable MFA in your account settings today. 🛡️ #CybersecurityAwarenessMonth #SecureOurWorld #safecyber #cybersecurity #cybersafe #cybersafety #onlinesafety #MFA #multifactorauthentication

📣 Hurricane Debris Clean Up Safety With the large amounts of debris created by recent hurricanes and tropical storms, it is important to know how to safely deal with and dispose of it. As you clean up your house and yard, use these tips to ensure a speedy debris removal process that is safe for both you and cleanup crews. 🌊 If your home flooded, wait until the floodwaters recede before beginning clean-up 📞 Report storm damage through official local/channels and contact your insurance company to understand what documentation is required 📸 Take photos of your home and property before clean-up in case you need them to file insurance claims 👖 Wear protective clothing, including long pants, boots, and gloves while cleaning up 🗑️ Separate debris into categories (e.g., large appliances, construction debris, vegetative debris, hazardous waste, electronics – see graphic for details) 🏡 Place debris on the curbside in their respective categories. Do not block roadways or property access 🚫 Avoid placing debris too close to fire hydrants, utility boxes ⚡ Avoid downed power lines For more tips, check out: FEMA: https://lnkd.in/ebmcfM_S Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: https://lnkd.in/etSijMjh #HurricaneHelene #HurricaneMilton #hurricane #hurricaneseason #debris #hurricanedebris #disastercleanup #debriscleanup #hurricanecleanup #debrisremoval #poststormsafety
