Happy World Food Day!🌍 Food is rightly described as the first basic need of man. Thus, the theme of this year’s World Food Day, ‘Right to Food: For a Better Life and a Better Future’, further emphasizes the nexus of productive living and food affordability, which can be made possible by surplus production. At the IITA Youth Agripreneurs (IYA), this theme also aligns perfectly with our mandate, which is to support young people to embrace agriculture, both to boost food production and improve livelihoods. Together, we can engender an African continent where easy access to affordable, quality food and self-sufficiency become basic, creating a platform for productivity, dignity, a productive workforce, self-discovery and continental prosperity. #WorldFoodDay #WFD2024 #RightToFood #BetterLifeBetterFuture #ZeroHunger #FoodForAll #HumanRightToFood #EndHunger

Still on IYA’s participation at the #AFSForum24 in Rwanda🇷🇼 During the recent Africa Food Systems Forum held in Kigali, the #Youth session took a deep dive into how young people are shaping #sustainable food systems, addressing #policygaps and driving #climateaction. This platform captured the collective voice of #Africanyouth, whose insights will feed into the final AFSF report, marking a critical step in influencing #globalfoodsystems policy. In a fireside chat, Noel Mulinganya, the Project Coordinator for ENABLE-TAAT Compact at IYA, emphasised the importance of #youthengagement in designing, implementing and evaluating #foodsystem solutions. Notably, two IYA participants from #Tanzania and the Democratic Republic of Congo joined other #youthleaders from #Kenya and #Ghana to discuss #women and youth #entrepreneurship, innovation, skills development, finance, climate resilience and #inclusivegrowth in agri-food systems.
