Today is a big day for IKONA and our partners across kidney care. We are excited to share our partnership with Lifeliqe to bring XR education and training solutions to the US kidney care market, starting with dialysis. Our partnership will initially focus on deploying select elements of Lifeliqe’s VR and online learning solutions to meet immediate strategic needs, tailored specifically for high-priority use cases such as cannulation training for patients and frontline staff. Our CEO Tim Fitzpatrick shared his thoughts: ”This is an exciting moment for IKONA and our partners who see the power of having effective, accessible learning tools available for their patients and care teams. This partnership with Lifeliqe arrives at a critical time in our industry, as we explore new ways to support high-quality care delivery in clinics and homes. Lifeliqe is a best in class workforce training platform, we’re confident they will play a vital role in helping us reshape kidney care in the US and beyond." It's time to meet your all-in-one kidney care learning platform, designed to tackle some of your toughest challenges from staff training to home adoption and retention. CEO at IKONA - Advancing Kidney Innovation

Let's talk about the future of learning in kidney care. I had the pleasure of joining Drs. Beth Ulrich, and Lillian Pryor to discuss the ways immersive learning tools like VR are changing patient education and clinical practice in kidney care. Dr. Ulrich’s expertise in nephrology nursing and education paired with her forward-thinking views made for a fantastic dialogue on where the field is headed and how we can improve outcomes for patients with CKD and ESKD. At IKONA Health, we believe so many of nephrology’s biggest challenges—from patient education to staff training and workforce engagement—are fundamentally learning problems. Getting patients onto new therapies like home dialysis or transplant successfully means they need the right tools in their hands, at the right time, and with the right support. Virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) can provide this support, helping patients approach treatment more confidently and helping providers adapt amidst workforce challenges and a fast-growing patient population. It’s about equipping all stakeholders in the care pathway with resources that truly make a difference. If my conversations at Kidney Week were any indication of what's to come, more and more organizations will embrace these tools to ensure every patient, care partner, provider and clinician has access to consistent, quality, on-demand learning experiences to transform their jobs and support their journeys. Sending my thanks to the fantastic teams at American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) and Nephrology Nursing Journal who make these conversations possible. As Trinity Life Sciences continues to track the movement of clinical service beyond the acute care hospital setting, I am excited to moderate a provocative panel on this topic at the LSI Europe '24 Medtech Summit in Sintra, Portugal next week. I'm thrilled to be joined by four innovative CEOs leading the ecosystem to offer technologies in Alternate Sites of Service. Come hear how Addie H. of HAVENTURE, Tim Fitzpatrick of IKONA Health, Osman Khawar of Diality and Amos Ziv of CardiaCare view this shift and how they are addressing paradigm shifts. If you are not attending (why not? 🙂 ), a recording will be published soon afterward, or reach out to any of us for further perspective.

We're thrilled to announce our partnership with Dialysis Education Services and Lifeliqe to evaluate the use of virtual reality training tools in preparing the next generation of dialysis technicians. This expansion of our existing efforts comes at a time as the industry continues to face significant headwinds in finding, recruiting, and retaining its mission critical workforce. With this study, we aim to evaluate the impact of VR on participants’ learning experiences, motivation and confidence levels. In addition, the study will examine training efficiency and effectiveness to determine time-in-training for VR- and non-VR-prepared cohorts. To meet the rising demands of kidney disease and kidney failure, our future must look different than our present. Together with our partners, we will do our part in readying this community for our shared vision of a better future. Read coverage of our announcement in Reuters: https://lnkd.in/e8FDBXQm

CEO at IKONA - Advancing Kidney Innovation

Hi friends! It's Friday— story time. I wore this sweatshirt earlier this week. Three people stopped me: an older woman on the subway, a guy around my age walking by on the sidewalk, and a high schooler hopping on his skateboard. They all said the same thing: "that's a kidney!" Two of them actually stopped to chat and shared stories of family members on dialysis. This picture is from the HLTH conference, where I wore a different color L[3VE shirt each day of the event. Funny enough, I was stopped more by event staff working at the event (Hi, Maria!) and random people in Las Vegas than by health tech people at the event itself. Some days I feel like I should just ride the NYC subway end to end in a kidney costume talking to people. Let's face it, it would not be the strangest thing happening on the subway. 𝐓𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤'𝐬 𝐤𝐢𝐝𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐬 𝐚 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐪𝐮𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧: In your experience, what have been the most effective ways to raise awareness and engaging the general public about kidney health? I'd love to hear a story or two from you (and pictures welcomed)! Leave a comment or join the Signals thread here: 📡 https://lnkd.in/eVHkkwxU

Imagine being told that your kidneys don’t function the same way anymore. The first time someone is diagnosed with an illness or condition, it can be incredibly overwhelming. That’s why Tim Fitzpatrick of IKONA Health are working to better educate, engage, and placate their patients through the VR headset they’ve developed. There is a considerable amount of education required to teach diabetic patients how to manage the disease. With the help of VR, patients are able to quickly learn more about the disease and which treatment options they have at their disposal. I walked away from the LSI USA ‘24 panel, “Advent of AI: What Will it Take to Drive True Adoption in Clinical Workflows?”, excited to see just how far Tim and his team will go. Who are some other founders and CEOs building incredible AR/VR/AI companies that deserve some recognition?
