It's exciting to consider the impact of the State of Illinois Carbon Pollution Reduction Grant funding, particularly after reading that the largest portion — 40 percent — will be allocated to expanding access to and deployment of clean energy technologies in buildings. That's a big deal and will help further the growth in the clean energy economy in Illinois. I'm looking forward to working with our network of building industry professionals and the Building Energy Resource Hub to maximize that impact. The 7 Van Buren project is a pioneering net zero Phius SourceZero building that is set to produce as much energy on-site as it consumes annually. This achievement is made possible by a unique solar panel array that doubles as a shade structure over the roof deck. The array conceals high-efficiency mechanical equipment and also creates a dynamic rooftop environment, blending clean energy production with an attractive amenity that offers stunning views of downtown Chicago. As the first project of its kind in the Midwest, it sets a visual benchmark for future designs aiming for lower carbon footprints, consuming 42% less energy than comparable structures.
