    🌐 Exploring the Omnichannel Gap across Pharma 🧪 Last week, I had the privilege of attending Digital Pharma East and participating in an Advisory Board—big thanks to @Docoree for the invitation! Throughout the discussions, one striking theme emerged: the term “Omnichannel” has become both ubiquitous and diverse in meaning across the Pharma industry. We encountered several interpretations just within our advisory board, leading me to ponder: how many different definitions are circulating in the broader Pharma landscape? My guess is that they rival the number of acronyms we all know too well! One area that continues to challenge us is the measurement of omnichannel effectiveness. As September wraps up brand and budget planning, several thoughts have surfaced: 🤔 Leadership Buy-In: How are pharma marketers securing leadership support to sustain investment in digital media strategies, especially when clear gaps in ROI modeling remain? 📊 Data Utilization: What types of data are being leveraged to effectively connect our target audiences with the messages that matter most to them? 📈 Success Metrics: What high-value actions are you measuring to track our success and demonstrate impact?     🚀 The Rise of an Integrated Brand Value Team - A SUCCESS Story! 🌟 I recently heard about a new term to describe a transformative approach within one of the largest pharmaceutical players in the world: the Integrated Brand Value Team (IBVT). Initially, many drug development and commercial management teams operated in siloes. In turn, crucial insights often got lost in translation, especially when Phase III products were handed off to commercial teams with a simple, “Go sell it!” ⚠️But here’s where the game changed: a commercial team engaged with payers and their target audiences only to discover a major roadblock—they found gaps in crucial data and realized they couldn’t effectively promote the product without addressing those needs. The result? A delayed launch, lower peak sales, and declining NPVs. Enter the IBVT, a cross function team integrating clinical, regulatory, and commercial expertise. This collaborative effort led to remarkable success! 💡 Achievements: 1. The first two IBVT products are now in the US market and are projected to be multi-billion-dollar blockbusters! 2. This success story is inspiring the rollout of IBVTs across this company’s global operations, reinforcing their commitment to collaboration in drug development. ➡️The takeaway? Developing new drugs is a complex process that demands collaboration across disciplines from the very start. Together, we can drive corporate success and deliver value to patients effectively. ❓If you’re asking yourself why I’m sharing this success story, it’s because I still encounter many companies that aren’t leveraging the IBVT approach.     I am putting together a presentation titled “The Link Between Science & Commercial Strategy for Pre-IPO Pharma Success.” One of the suggested slides is on the topic of best practices early companies engage in to overcome common pitfalls in their pursuit of success. Some of the successful behaviors I listed include - 📈 Understanding how innovation will translate into market success. Great science does not guarantee commercial success.  ⚠️   Factoring the technical risk of FDA approval into strategic planning. Too often, companies      miss key information the FDA is communicating. 🔂 Developing key strategies early based on commercial analytics. Commercial represents a lot more than just sales and marketing.  ⚙️  Having the tools and processes for considering a wide variety of strategic options and risks. All too often companies treat forecasts as number generators vs. strategy assessment tools. Speed to market is rarely a winning strategy. 🗣  Creating dialogue between commercial and clinical leads. A lack of organizational alignment is detrimental to corporate success.   • As those in healthcare know, "PBMs have enormous power over the price of drugs, and patients’ access to them. Almost a third of patients report rationing medicines and skipping doses due to high costs. Due to decades of mergers and acquisitions, the three largest PBMs now manage nearly 80 percent of all prescriptions filled in the United States. They are also vertically integrated, serving as health plans and pharmacists, and playing other roles in the drug supply chain as well. As a result, they wield enormous power and influence over patients’ access to drugs and the prices they pay with no accountability to the public."
