Dr. Kelly Rock, attending her second WMS congress, observed that "imaging to monitor neuromuscular disease status, progression, and response to treatment is becoming the standard." She emphasized how ImagingNMD's work was prominently featured throughout the congress, influencing clinical trial design and treatment response measurement. Our team was honored to present our research at this year's World Muscle Society in Prague. It was inspiring to learn about the advancements other teams are making in the fight against muscular dystrophy.

Our research sheds light on the early stages of breathing issues in Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD). We found that problems with clearing airways often appear before trouble with breathing fully begins and that muscle changes are linked to lung function. These insights help us better understand how DMD affects the lungs over time. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eX-VgC4p

Whether or not you were able to attend BEED this year, the mental health panel was one of the most impactful parts of the event for our team. This group of men shared the importance of their family and friends understanding the impact of disease progression and how speaking openly about Becker muscular dystrophy helps emotionally. These results demonstrate the ability of MRI to detect therapeutic effects of corticosteroids in reducing inflammatory processes in skeletal muscles of boys with DMD. Our work highlights the potential of MRI as a biomarker in evaluating therapeutic interventions in DMD. Continue reading: https://lnkd.in/e6tJ7Yxi

"The book and the author are an inspiration with his perseverance overcoming so many obstacles during his disease progression. I am sure his book will give many other patients and their families an uplift for the outlook of their own futures." - Dr. Andrea Mitchell Thank you for sharing your story, Brad! It has been an inspiration to many people living with Becker MD. https://lnkd.in/erDJByvX

Over the last decade, magnetic resonance imaging of muscles in people with DMD has led to an improved understanding of the muscle pathology underlying the clinical manifestations of DMD. Findings from magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) studies in DMD, paired with the clinical expertise of physical therapists, can help guide physical therapy care moving forward for this unique patient population. In this video, Physical Therapist Claudia Senesac and a patient with Becker muscular dystrophy demonstrate a balance activity with the option to increase difficulty. Gently challenging your balance capabilities is a great way to improve your balance over time. There’s still a lot of research to be done on the effects of exercise on men with BMD. We hope to bridge this gap in research and provide further insights on how to non-invasively image the progression of BMD in men using MRI scanners. As a man with BMD, you have the unique opportunity to help researchers learn more about the progression of BMD.
