Ring of Fire! What is an Annular Eclipse? Ever heard of an annular eclipse but not sure what it is? This amazing image from NASA captures the beauty of this phenomenon! An annular eclipse happens when the Moon passes directly in front of the Sun, but because the Moon is slightly farther away in its orbit, it doesn't completely block the Sun. This leaves a ring of sunlight visible around the Moon, creating a "ring of fire" effect.
