The smartphone industry has a great opportunity to benefit from sustainability efforts, especially in the refurbished market. The Circular Economy Maturity Model (CEMM) from Ingram Micro Lifecycle and Research HQ helps businesses unlock untapped value in this growing sector. Designed for high-tech consumer electronics, the CEMM offers a clear framework for smartphone manufacturers, OEMs, and retailers to improve processes in Returns, Recovery, and Recommerce. It helps extend product lifecycles, make resource use more efficient, and reduce environmental impact. How can the CEMM help in the refurbished smartphone market? 1. Efficient Returns Management: Streamline trade-in, warranty returns, and take-back schemes to collect used devices for effective refurbishment or recycling. 2. Comprehensive Recovery Process: Focus on refurbishment and repairs, including part replacement and upgrades. Recover valuable materials like lithium and cobalt from non-repairable phones to reduce e-waste. 3. Strategic Recommerce Channels: Reintroduce refurbished smartphones to meet the demand for affordable, sustainable options, generating extra revenue and supporting a circular product lifecycle. By adopting the CEMM, companies can measure their progress in the circular economy, track performance, and make informed decisions that boost sustainability and profitability. Ingram Micro Lifecycle's expertise in returns management, recovery, and recommerce supports your journey towards a more sustainable and competitive future. Recognising the growing need for sustainable solutions in the SDA market, Ingram Micro Lifecycle has developed the Circular Economy Maturity Model (CEMM) to help businesses elevate their returns, recovery, and recommerce processes. The CEMM is designed for the consumer high-tech electronic sector in general. This makes the model beneficial for a wide range of businesses, including small domestic appliance (SDA) manufacturers, retailers, and insurers. It offers tailored strategies to maximise value and minimise waste. This practical framework helps companies evaluate their circular economy maturity and streamline operations to maximise the value of returned devices. How can SDA OEMs, manufacturers, and retailers use the CEMM? - Define clear sustainability objectives - Optimise material and energy use - Integrate returns, recovery, and recommerce processes - Foster partnerships that enhance circularity - Track and report essential performance indicators By implementing the CEMM, you can reduce waste, comply with evolving regulations, and improve resource efficiency while boosting customer satisfaction. How does Ingram Micro Lifecycle help? 🔄 Return: Efficient processing to preserve device value. 🔧 Recovery: High-quality repairs and refurbishment, reducing customer downtime. 📈 Recommerce: Maximise recovery value through strategic resale of refurbished products. 🚀 Market Report Announcement 🚀 We’re excited to announce the release of our market report "From Customer Insights to Circular Impact", a study examining user behavior in the electronics sector for both B2C and B2B markets in Germany as part of the UNDRESS Circularity research project, exploring how circular business models can extend the life of electronic devices and reduce environmental impact.📱 💻 ♻️ The market report provides new data on consumer behaviour on different options to access and use devices for individual users (B2C) and in the business context (B2B); It analyzes both frequently and rarely used devices in order to uncover different usage patterns and potential for sustainability improvements. Key findings include: 💡  B2C: 20% of consumers already purchase second-hand devices, but rental adoption remains low at 1%. Higher consumer intentions to use more circular offerings in the future point to a positive market potential if concerns about quality and price can be addressed. 💡  B2B: Adoption is more widespread than in B2C, with rental already being used by 11% and second-hand purchase by 30%. Companies are using their devices for up to 4.6 years, slightly higher than in B2C. A more active handling of unused devices to ensure recirculation could boost impact further 💡  Opportunities: Addressing price, quality, and warranty concerns can unlock further adoption. 👉  Access to the full report here: https://lnkd.in/d2wtngFn UNDRESS Circularity is a joint industry project led by Circularity in collaboration with Fraunhofer IZM, Systemiq Ltd., Grover, rebuy, Vodafone, circulee, Assurant, FixFirst - The OS for Circular Services & Products, Everphone, Ingram Micro, Foxway Group, Reverse Logistics Group (RLG) Recommerce Group Deutsche Telekom with advise from ETH Zürich, WWF Germany, DIN Deutsches Institut für Normung e. Integrating circular economy principles into existing operations requires extensive work. It demands businesses navigate new governance frameworks, allocate resources effectively, implement advanced reverse logistics systems, and establish robust sustainability metrics. To tackle these challenges, Ingram Micro Lifecycle and Research HQ have introduced the Circular Economy Maturity Model (CEMM), crafted explicitly for the high-tech electronics sector. The CEMM empowers businesses to assess and elevate their circular economy practices, offering a structured yet adaptable roadmap that guides organisations from their current state to advanced maturity. The Circular Economy Maturity Model has four key objectives: ✔️ Provide Comprehensive Assessment: Evaluates your organisation's current circular economy maturity. ✔️ Assist Goal Setting: Defines actionable goals for advancing circular economy initiatives over the next 6 to 12 months. ✔️ Strategic Resource Allocation: Prioritises essential tools, technologies, and partnerships for significant progress. ✔️ Enhance Collaboration: Fosters a culture of cooperation within and across the value chain, aligning towards shared sustainability goals. This flexible yet structured framework enables organisations to measure progress, make informed decisions, and continuously improve their sustainability practices. Explore the Circular Economy Maturity Model today to understand the framework and how it can guide your sustainability journey. We’ll soon launch a self-assessment tool to help you evaluate your organisation's maturity level and set actionable goals— https://lnkd.in/gwiEKsbj #sustainability #circulareconomy #cemm
