Jupiter Power is excited to announce today the achievement of commercial operations of 400MWh of dispatchable power to the ERCOT grid with a battery energy storage facility in Houston, Texas. Callisto I is the first transmission-connected battery energy storage project in the city of Houston, and will significantly increase Houston’s supply of reliable, zero emissions power. This amount of dispatchable power in the Houston city load center represents the success of market-based improvements by lawmakers to add competitive, dispatchable power to the ERCOT grid. With ERCOT expecting peak demand and tight conditions today, we are proud to be able to provide this amount of instantaneous, firm power. The Callisto I Energy Center is a 200MW/400MWh battery energy storage system located in central Houston, five miles from the Medical Center and ten miles from the Houston Ship Channel at the site of a former HL&P H.O. Clarke fossil fuel power plant. The site can accommodate an additional 400MW/800MWh of battery energy storage generation. Callisto I is Jupiter Power’s ninth project in ERCOT, bringing its total ERCOT fleet to 1,375MWh. In December of 2023, Jupiter Power announced the closing of a$65.2 million financing with First Citizens Bank to finance the construction of Callisto I.  Read the press release and find out more about Jupiter Power below: https://lnkd.in/gCkU3ysf

🔌💡 Solving the Challenges of Reactive Power Studies Are you facing challenges with inconsistencies in reactive power studies? Partner with INS Engineering for unparalleled expertise and tailored solutions to ensure accurate and consistent results regarding your project's reactive power capability in meeting system operators’ requirements. Standards mandate precise reactive power provisions, necessitating a thorough understanding of generating unit dynamics and transmission grid specifications. Our studies delve into intricate details such as the dynamic VAR capabilities of inverters, transformer configurations, and voltage regulation mechanisms. Most of the existing load-flow-based approaches will be overlooked as they cannot assess the reactive power capability of components subject to terminal dynamical conditions (e.g., inverters' terminal voltages). Our in-house automation tools and proprietary AI provide a unique approach that presents detailed VAR capability of the project subject to grid operating conditions. This enables us to assess reactive power capabilities most accurately across various scenarios, ensuring robust performance under different operating conditions. Our analyses will precisely reveal whether your project will meet the system operator’s reactive power requirements through a combination of IBR capabilities and existing compensation devices. By evaluating multiple dispatch levels and voltage ranges, we provided actionable insights to enhance grid stability. INS Engineering's commitment to excellence ensures reliable solutions for complex electrical engineering challenges. Our Reactive Power Studies exemplify our dedication to quality, leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive innovation in the energy sector. #ElectricalEngineering #EngineeringExcellence #Reactive #ReactivePower #PowerSystems #SystemStudies #Modeling #PSCAD #PSSE #PSLF #ACP #CLEANPOWER #IEEETandD
