After her mother had a stroke in 2008, Brandi Bass, MSN, APRN-CNP, FNP-C, set out to become a nurse. She later became a nurse practitioner to educate patients on preventative care. Her main goal is to help patients better manage existing or new acute conditions before they require inpatient hospital care. The 13th Annual Transplant Social Work Conference was a tremendous success! Earlier this year, Julie "JJ" Jarvis almost cancelled her annual mammogram screening. Today, she thanks God and her expert team of caregivers at INTEGRIS Health that she didn’t. As a manager of operations at the INTEGRIS Health Cancer Institute and manager of the Troy and Dollie Smith Wellness Center at INTEGRIS Health, JJ knows firsthand how important early detection is when it comes to treating patients with breast cancer. Had she waited a year, her prognosis might have been much worse. Thankfully, getting her regularly scheduled mammogram meant that JJ’s cancer had been caught early, and the tumor had yet to metastasize. “Go get your mammogram,” JJ advises. “It saved my life.
