🔎 "Transparency and Effective Co-operation are the ‘currencies of trust’ in #internationaldevelopment" - IATI Executive Director.📺 Missed our side-event at #HLPF2024? WATCH BACK "Road to the Conference on Financing for Development (FfD4): Laying the groundwork for a new era of transparency & development effectiveness". Great side-event with fascinating insights from: 💡 H.E. Mrs. Fatima Haram Acyl (Minister Delegate for Economy and Planning, Republic of Chad) 💡 Yemesrach Workie(Executive Director, IATI) 💡 Gary Forster (CEO, Publish What You Fund) 💡 Victoria Gellis (Adviser, U.S. Permanent Mission to the United Nations) 💡 Ilaria Carnevali (Deputy Executive Coordinator, UN Multi-Partner Trust Fund Office) 💡 Asor Henry Nkang (Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Government of Nigeria) IATI Executive Director Yemesrach Workie said: "Looking ahead to the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development next year, it has been recognized that there is a need to redouble efforts towards these essential currencies. The 2024 Financing for Development Report stated, “Attention to the development effectiveness agenda has been lagging”. The report noted a “clear need to revitalise this agenda.” At FFD4, if we are to secure resources to fill the SDG financing gap of 4.2 trillion dollars, we need a significant injection of trust, collaboration and effectiveness. And so our asks are clear: we want a commitment in the FFD4 outcome document for all development finance to be published according to the International Aid Transparency Initiative Standard. And we want a clear commitment for the development system to adhere to and monitor the Global Partnership effectiveness principles". IATI is a global initiative to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources and their results.
About us
IATI is a global initiative working to improve the transparency of development and humanitarian resources and their results to address poverty and crises. IATI encourages governments and organisations to publish information about their spending and projects according to IATI's open data standard. The IATI Standard is a set of rules and guidance for publishing useful development and humanitarian data. Once published, this data is free and open for anyone to access online. Thousands of organisations have published IATI data on the spending of their development or humanitarian activities. They include donor governments, multilateral agencies, development finance institutions, foundations, NGOs and private sector organisations. IATI is funded and governed by its members and a member-elected Governing Board, and it is supported by a global community of development and humanitarian practitioners, advocates for transparency, data experts and technical specialists. IATI’s Secretariat is hosted by the UN Development Programme (UNDP), which is responsible for policy and technology services, with Open Data Services as the Secretariat's technology delivery partner and the UN Office for Project Services (UNOPS) as the provider of operational and financial services.

What we don't know can hurt us: Better measurement and disclosure of MDB private finance mobilisation data 🗓️ Wednesday 23 October 2024, 2:00-3:30 PM EST / 7:00-8:30 PM BST Hybrid – Online and Washington DC While many point to the need for much greater multilateral development bank (MDB) mobilisation of private finance, we lack evidence on performance to assess where the best opportunities for mobilisation lie. This information gap is particularly worrisome as shareholders and donors are being asked to provide more concessional resources to support private finance mobilisation, without having a strong basis to judge where and how their scarce funds can be most productively deployed. Join us on 23 October, with the Center for Global Development, when we’ll be presenting the culmination of our work to improve MDB mobilisation measurement and reporting. Nick Anstett (Pollination), Margaret Kuhlow (U.S. Department of the Treasury), Haje Schütte (OECD - OCDE), Nancy Lee (Center for Global Development) and Gary Forster (Publish What You Fund) will explore the key measurement and disclosure challenges that need to be resolved in order to make and track more mobilisation progress. What #IATI data is available in Vanuatu? Our Executive Director Yemesrach Workie presented it today… 📊
I had the pleasure of meeting with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vanuatu, the Department of Strategic Policy, Planning & Aid Coordination, and the UN Mission of Vanuatu to discuss aid transparency. During our discussions, I shared insights on the International Aid Transparency Initiative (IATI) data, which is crucial for effective coordination and decision-making. Given the significant challenges that small island countries like Vanuatu face in terms of capacity, it is evident that IATI data can significantly boost Vanuatu’s ability to enhance development effectiveness and humanitarian action. Together, we are committed to leveraging data for a brighter, more transparent future. 🌟 #AidTransparency #IATI #Vanuatu #Development #HumanitarianAction
