Commercial sexual exploitation is a booming business. But we know that we are not powerless against the factors driving human trafficking. Together with local governments and partners, we’ve seen that transformation is possible. 📉 In the Dominican Republic, IJM partnered with local authorities to identify the root cause of sex trafficking and collaborate on a protection model, resulting in a 78% reduction in the prevalence of sex trafficking of children. 📉 In a region of South Asia, IJM worked with law enforcement to enhance their ability to identify traffickers, bring relief to victims and prosecute criminals, resulting in an 82% reduction in the prevalence of forced labor trafficking. Change is happening, and we are committed to replicating these successes across global hotspots by partnering with local experts to prevent vulnerable people from being exploited. Last month, President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. delivered a compelling speech at IJM's Center to End Online Sexual Exploitation of Children’s national summit in Manila. The event brought together government and organizations leaders from across the Philippines to strengthen efforts in the fight against OSEC. Reiterating the government's unwavering commitment to eradicate OSEC, President Marcos Jr. affirmed: “This Administration will do everything. Trafficking hides in plain sight across Europe, with traffickers benefiting from low risks and high rewards from exploiting vulnerable people across borders. As a result, many people in Europe have become victims of trafficking after being deceived into romantic relationships or lured through promises of a better future. In 2019, IJM launched a European Anti-Trafficking Program in Romania to work with police and governments to build a unified, cross-border response. So far, we've trained 390+ officers, supported 90+ survivors, and helped convict 20+ traffickers. We’ve seen a huge impact in fighting trafficking, and we can do even more, but we can’t do it alone.
