IOIA/OMRI Partner on Fall Webinars This Fall, IOIA and OMRI are offering three valuable webinars on input materials, featuring relevant content for newly trained and experienced inspectors alike. Many inspectors, having completed basic training, continue to identify ‘compliant organic inputs’ as an area where they lack confidence. These courses are focused on what inspectors need to know, but are also very useful for consultants, reviewers, and other organic professionals. While certifiers are ultimately responsible for reviewing and approving input materials, inspectors should have a solid understanding of material review, to effectively support certifiers. These reasonably-priced courses are delivered by OMRI materials experts in a webinar format, making the practical information accessible and immediately useful. The webinars are comprehensive and include preparatory assignments and post-webinar exams. Each session is packed with “Inspector Takeaways” and “Red Flags.” The content includes tips on maximizing the use of OMRI printed publications and online resources, with plenty of opportunities for live Q&A. These training sessions can also help inspectors meet the continuing education requirements outlined in the new Strengthening Organic Enforcement (SOE) final rule. To Register - Click through on any of the links below. Enrollment is limited to 20 for each webinar. September 18, 2024: 100 Level IOIA/OMRI NOP Processing Input Materials This webinar is a 100-level course designed as a way for new organic professionals to gain an understanding of the compliance requirements of inputs used within the processing/handling production scope through a discussion and learning session with staff from Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). Trainers: Tina Jensen Augustine and Jacky Castañeda. 2 Hours. https://lnkd.in/eny2rbwR October 16th, 2024: 100 Level IOIA/OMRI NOP Crop Input Materials This webinar is a 100-level course designed as a way for new organic professionals to gain an understanding of the compliance requirements of inputs used within the crop production scope through a discussion and learning session with staff from Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI). IOIA has always had a significant number of members located in Canada, many of whom have been active in organic agriculture work in general (policy, materials review, etc.) as well as inspecting in particular. With this in mind, we want to share with everyone that Canada is celebrating 15 years of the Canada Organic Regime, their version of the U.S. National Organic Program. If you click thru the link below you can find out all sorts of information from the Canada Organic Trade Association about this topic, how you can help celebrate (the big event is September, which is Organic Month) and why it matters! https://lnkd.in/eyU_baP2

IOIA supports the work of Food & Environment Reporting Network (FERN). The Food & Environment Reporting Network is the first independent, non-profit news organization that produces in-depth and investigative journalism in the critically under-reported areas of food, agriculture, and environmental health. Through partnerships with local and national mainstream media outlets, we seek to tell stories that will inspire, inform, and have lasting impact. In this moment, it’s a good time to remember why FERN matters, why this kind of reporting needs to be protected and supported, and why this organization is a vital resource for people who care about journalism at the intersection of food and the environment. FERN provides thoughtful, sharp, well-written, and important stories by writers such as Chuck Abbott of FERN's Ag Insider, who provides daily reporting on ag and government issues such as the US Farm Bill, and Brent Cunningham, who delivers a weekly summary of ag stories that come from a variety of leading partners in the journalistic world. We encourage others to support FERN by subscribing to their network. It's money well spent!

I am sharing this personal request to all that are interested in helping. You can read all about Aldair's journey by following the link. Thanks in advance for your support!
Hello Everyone, and thank you for your continuing support of our campaign to help Aldair get thru his battle with leukemia. So far so good! It's been quiet the past couple of months. Aldair is stabilized. He is still taking medication daily and goes to Managua monthly to the hospital for a few days to get chemotherapy, which he will be doing until the end of the year. He is able to continue his studies and is grateful that he is still alive, when so many others on the cancer journey with him did not make it. If there is a good side to this, it's that he was under 20 when it struck. Starting to deal with this older than age 21 decreases the chances to beat it by very large percentages. His 22nd birthday is coming up on July 3, and we are so thankful that he's still with us! We weren't sure at all that he would respond to the treatments as well as he has. He's not out of the woods completely, but there is light at the end of the tunnel. Any donations help with keeping him in healthy food and clean water, travels to the hospital, and hope for a better future. Thank you again for your caring and generosity. The family has had a rough few years, especially with Aldair's cancer, and every dollar and colon REALLY helps! Blessings to All, Diane Cooner Campaign Coordinator https://gofund.me/1b2c6e0d
