We're thrilled to share some unforgettable highlights from the IPSY Connects Celebration of Latinx Beauty in Miami, Florida, in honor of Hispanic Heritage Month. IPSY brought together members of our creator and brand communities for a captivating event featuring a fireside chat, followed by a masterclass led by celebrity makeup artist and brand founder Etienne Ortega. We were also delighted by a special appearance from Alexia Nepola of the Real Housewives of Miami. Staying true to IPSY’s mission to democratize beauty, we continually support, amplify, and invest in our focus communities and brands. It was a true honor to celebrate the Latinx community and acknowledge its incredible impact on shaping the beauty industry.

What does it take to create a beauty brand that champions sensitive skin while making waves in the industry? Amy Liu, founder of Tower 28 Beauty, Inc., joined us on this week’s episode of our Hitting Pan podcast with host Bethany Blair to share her unique journey—from her personal struggles with eczema to redefining “clean beauty” and building a brand that stands out. 🌊 Tune in to hear how Liu turned her love for safe, high-performing products into a thriving business (with a little help from psychic predictions along the way!), and make sure to catch our latest episode drop every Thursday! Key Takeaways: 💧Inspired by the Lifeguard Tower: The name TOWER 28 comes from a real lifeguard tower at the intersection of Santa Monica and Venice—symbolizing a safe, inclusive space like the beach where everyone can enjoy beauty. 💧Balancing Sensitivity and High Performance: The brand isn’t just about being safe for sensitive skin—it’s about making products that perform without compromise, using clean, non-irritating ingredients that still pack a punch. 💧Late Start? No Problem!: Amy didn’t start her brand until she was 40. Her advice? It’s never too late to bet on yourself and take that leap into entrepreneurship. This is about more than makeup. Beauty influencers + disability advocates #MistyDiaz, #KelseyDworchak, and #SteffiGonzalez joined us in an internal panel about the transformative power of beauty, and the ways we can continue fostering inclusivity in support of those with disabilities and challenging stereotypes in the beauty world and beyond. We learned it's not as complicated as we've all made it out to be. This panel inspired us to think deeper about how we can better curate our offerings to be more inclusive and representative of all. This was a call to action for us, and we hope it will be for you, too. Get influenced! Here are a few mic-drop moments: 🎤 “𝗜𝘁 𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝘀𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗲. That means including us in brand deals and modeling gigs. The model with straight hair, the model with curly hair, every model caters to an audience, and me too! I have my own community to cater to. I want to see people that look like me. It starts with giving us the same space, equal space, as other content creators.” -Steffi Gonzalez 🎤 “I didn’t meet anyone else with spina bifida until my early 20s. The entire time, not seeing someone look like me on TV, billboards, or social media, I was just thinking “Why am I the only one?” I had no one to relate to, and I went through a lot of battles—a lot of pain. Slowly, I started telling my story, and I realized I wasn’t the only one. I started meeting more people who had never met others with spina bifida, and I still do! Content creating and advocating is a way for us to connect. 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗳 𝘀𝗼𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗺𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗮 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘀𝗲𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻!” -Misty Diaz 🎤 “There are a lot of people who have never seen someone like us. Education, showing our faces, and getting our names out there is so important.” -Kelsey Dworchak 🎤 “𝗕𝗲𝗮𝘂𝘁𝘆 𝗶𝘀 𝗮 𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺 𝗼𝗳 𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲. 𝗜𝘁 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗱𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗽𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝘆𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝘄𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲 𝗱𝗮𝘆–𝘀𝗼𝗺𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮𝘀 𝘀𝗺𝗮𝗹𝗹 𝗮𝘀 𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗸. It’s been a tool in my self-acceptance, self-confidence, self-love, through my disability. Beauty looks different on me, but it’s still beauty. Only I can bring MY beauty to the table!” -Steffi Gonzalez 🎤 “Things have slowly changed, but we still have a long way to go. I still don't see myself represented.” -Misty Diaz 🎤 “I am here to be the representation I didn’t have growing up.” -Steffi Gonzalez ❤️ We offer internal employee panels like this each month covering various topics to foster inspiration, development, education, and awareness. Special shoutout to Cydney Goodin M.Ed., CPT, CMMT and Anna S. for bringing this topic to our organization and facilitating this panel!
