🇮🇹🤝🇺🇸 The Italy – US Tech Business & Investment Matching Initiative has been launched at the Embassy of Italy to the United States in Washington. On the Italian side, the program is promoted by the Ministero degli Affari Esteri e della Cooperazione Internazionale, Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy (MIMIT), Conferenza delle Regioni e delle Province autonome, 14 regions of Italy, Confindustria, T.I.C. TRANSATLANTIC INVESTMENT COMMITTEE, and the Transatlantic Harmonic Foundation (THF). On the U.S. side, the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Department of State, organizations representing 18 states of the United States, the Tech Hubs Organization, SelectUSA, and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce are all involved. An evolution of the work carried out by the Transatlantic Investment Committee (TIC), with the support of the Transatlantic Harmonic Foundation (THF), the Italy – US Tech Business & Investment Matching Initiative is a system-wide program aimed at ensuring transatlantic cooperation to support the development of Italy’s innovation industry and its contribution worldwide. It takes place alongside the third edition of the THF-TIC US Stakeholders’ Meeting. Through the matching activities facilitated by the public and private entities involved, the Italy – US Tech Business & Investment Matching Initiative aims to foster connections and dialogue between Italian and U.S. institutions and companies, encouraging industrial partnerships and investment flows for mutual growth in strategic sectors, including life sciences and aerospace for 2025, with a particular focus on industrial AI solutions. Mariangela Zappia, Ambassador of Italy to the United States, stated: “Last year, Italy-U.S. trade exceeded $126 billion; the United States is the main destination for Italy’s foreign direct investments, with over €65 billion in stock reached in 2023, and American investments in Italy have surpassed €20 billion. As these figures show, the United States is by far our primary trading partner outside the EU. Today’s initiative offers a valuable opportunity to strengthen this intense economic and commercial cooperation—which is strategic for Italy—since in many cases, American states and our regions hold the keys to successful collaboration, thanks to their unique expertise, on-the-ground knowledge, and their ability to create networking opportunities.” Full Press Release ➡️ https://lnkd.in/dit4rc-D

The Ambassador of Italy to the United States, Mariangela Zappia, yesterday opened the event “Partnerships for Reconstruction: the Road to the Rome Ukraine Reconstruction Conference 2025,” which was attended by Ukrainian Finance Minister Serhii Marchenko. The initiative, hosted at the Embassy of Italy in the US in Washington in collaboration with the Ukrainian Embassy, was dedicated to discussions on key international initiatives in support of Ukraine ahead of the upcoming 2025 Ukraine Recovery Conference, to be held in Rome on July 10th and 11th next year. The conference will bring together international leaders, including from the private sector, to coordinate and facilitate the country’s reconstruction after the devastation caused by Russia’s brutal aggression. In her opening remarks, Ambassador Zappia emphasized: “Italy is at the forefront in supporting Ukraine, on a bilateral level, as the G7 Presidency, and in every multilateral forum, defending the values of democracy, freedom, and the rule of law. With next year’s Reconstruction Conference, we will continue to play a leading role. We will also focus on the preservation of cultural heritage and the reconstruction of historical centers and cities, key aspects of the rebuilding process.” Following introductory remarks by Ambassador Zappia and Ukrainian Ambassador Oksana Markarova, a roundtable discussion took place, featuring Ukrainian Finance Minister Marchenko, U.S. Under Secretary of Commerce Marisa Lago, the Italian Foreign Ministry’s Special Envoy for the Reconstruction of Ukraine Davide La Cecilia, USAID Assistant Administrator Erin McKee, The World Bank Vice President Antonella Bassani, and International Monetary Fund Representative to Ukraine Gavin Gray. Penny Pritzker, U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine’s Economic Recovery, also attended the event. It was an opportunity to take stock of the progress made so far and to discuss the next steps, with a particular focus on the Multi-Agency Donor Coordination Platform. The importance of reforms, decentralization, and the strategic role of public-private partnerships for Ukraine’s reconstruction was agreed upon. Framing the event was the inauguration of the exhibition “Washington-Kyiv and Back,” created by Italian photographer Massimo Listri and set up in the Embassy’s atrium. I was humbled to recently receive the honor of becoming a Knight of the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy in a ceremony hosted by Ambassador Mariangela Zappia. My paternal grandparents, Alfonso and Maria, immigrated to Wyoming from northern Italy in the early 20th century, eventually settling on the sheep ranch where I grew up. I’m so proud of their courage and that the agency I now lead continues to nurture many valuable collaborations with Italian researchers. Thank you again for this incredible recognition!
