👋🏼 Meet Michael and Jake Hammond! This father and son plumber duo of Gilligan Plumbing assisted in the recent Mimal Water and Sanitation Project in Central Arnhem Land, Australia. As proud Barkindji men, they were keen to learn more about their culture and have a deeper connection with country. With Michael's extensive experience as a plumber, the opportunity to volunteer his skills with this project really appealed to him. He told us why: “To take something as simple as plumbing, a trade I have been doing for 30 years, and help change living conditions and lives.” Jake has completed a plumbing apprenticeship and wanted to put his new found skills to good use as a volunteer, while gaining some invaluable experience in the process and a chance to learn more about his culture and the local community. 👉🏼 THANK YOU, Michael and Jake for your hard work and for contributing to this #healthycountry project! #water #sanitation #hygiene #plumbing #mimalland #iwsh #reecefoundation #iapmo #northernterritory #arnhemland #meettheteam #apprentice #volunteering

🚰 Exciting update from our Mimal Water & Sanitation Project in Australia: A substantial part of our work at Mimal Ranger Base in Central Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, has been to add four 27,000-litre rainwater tanks to ensure a year-round supply of drinking water for rangers and visitors. The process involved a thorough excavation and levelling of the site, followed by the installation of the tanks. Once the tanks were in place, the connection of downpipes and overflow pipework completed the setup. Building sustainable water solutions (such as this) offers current and future generations access to clean, reliable water resources, while preserving the environment and reducing our impacts on natural systems. #water #sanitation #hygiene #plumbing #mimalland #iwsh #reecefoundation #iapmo #northernterritory #arnhemland #sustainablewatersystem

🛩️✨ There’s magic in the air… together with the Reece Foundation and a group of eager volunteer ‘tradies’, the IWSH Foundation has embarked on a new and very special community plumbing collaboration in Australia this week! Flying over a diverse landscape of rock, bush and woodland, we have touched down at the remote Mimal Ranger Base in the heart of Central Arnhem Land, Northern Territory. Representing IAPMO & IWSH Foundation (International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation) I attended a phenomenal Virginia PHCC, Future Leaders Summit! Major "thanks eh" to Susan Love Milhoan, MBA, CAE, PMP, and her team! 10 apprentices vied for national competition. Angela C. challenged young leaders, & brought "where's Brady", Brady Kroll to practise his skills preparing for WorldSkills International competition in Lyon, France this fall. PHCC of Virginia made a generous donation to advance our IWSH Foundation (International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation) mission to bring safe water & adequate sanitation to those lacking it... Huge thankyou to PHCC-VA!!! #iwsh #water #plumbing #sanitation #waterislife #iapmo

Another day in Alabama, IWSH Foundation (International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation) our CPC completed a couple more homes! Florine & Jack were so genuinely moved that their plumbing issues were addressed. Their water heater leaked steadily due to a defective TPRV, several other concerns were resolved. Another family had an automotive radiator hose rather than a proper P-trap along with several leaks at their kitchen sink. #iwsh #water #plumbing #sanitation #waterislife #iapmo

Aaaaand we did it again!!!! Had to head on back to Alabama and help out some brothers and sisters in neeeed! What a continued honor to be on the IWSH Foundation (International Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Foundation) team as just one small part of what helps our fellow Americans achieve a basic human right; access to clean water and sanitary sewer systems. If you don’t know, now you know, millions of Americans DO NOT have one or the other or even BOTH depending on what geographical location and economic conditions they endure. Please reach out to see how and where you can help if you can afford it. Great week we had installing new fixtures (LIXIL) and new water heaters for those in desperate need. It’s been a loooooooooong time coming for Lowndes County! If it wasn’t for South Central Pipe Trades Mr. Danny Walker and jed scheuermann for making me laugh the entire time, I probably would have gained a couple pounds with all that good ol southern fried food. Thanks to IAPMO and the squad of giants that where multiple hats and organize efforts to make stuff like THIS happen. Shout out to our the local UA in Montgomery for blessing us with some A-1 plumbing beasts to help git-er-dun as Randy Lorge would say!!! Big love and resource to my team members and Lowndes County community. Spread the love and lend a hand!!!
