Simplot’s iconic Don Plant marked its 80th anniversary last December with a grand celebration attended by employees, dignitaries, and community leaders. As our first fertilizer manufacturing facility, the Don Plant has been pivotal in our journey from mining to delivering essential nutrients to farms and food processing facilities. It has played a critical role in both our operations and the greater Pocatello community. With over 400 dedicated employees, the Don Plant continues to be a cornerstone of Pocatello, supporting local businesses and contributing to sustainable agriculture. Here’s to many more years of growth and community partnership!

You probably know the story well—how our founder J.R. Simplot grew his business from the ground up, starting it nearly 100 years ago at the tender age of 14 with only $80 to his name. J.R.’s business slowly grew, and most importantly, diversified over the years. It is Simplot’s diverse portfolio across global agriculture and food that gives us a uniquely broad view of the entire food system and sets us apart from other companies. While we became famous for our potatoes back in the 1950s when Simplot created the first commercially viable frozen french fry in the world – our ongoing investments across the entire food chain have kept us at the forefront of feeding our growing global population for decades. This passion, creativity and foresight is why the Global Communications & Brand team set out to capture (on film) what makes Simplot unique. Simplot’s new Company overview video highlights every part of the Business, our global operations, and how we continue to innovate and invest in every segment of food production, all the way from mine to plate. Above all, this dynamic video illustrates and underscores Simplot's enduring commitment to help feed the world, and highlights the bright future promised by the growth of the J.R. Simplot Company. https://lnkd.in/gfcjguKt

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. once said, “Life’s most persistent and urgent question is, ‘What are you doing for others?’” We should remember these words as we celebrate today and reflect on the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. His profound ideas, actions, and teachings are just as relevant today and just as important.

Today, we celebrate the birthday of our exceptional founder, J.R. Simplot! J.R. Simplot had the inherent ability to see possibilities where others saw obstacles and the resolve to act on them—helping him turn a one-man farming operation into a global food and agribusiness enterprise. This foresight has driven everyone at the J.R. Simplot Company for nearly 95 years and helped create a company culture where new ideas have a chance to grow and flourish. Although J.R. Simplot will remain forever fixed as the founder, leader, and inspiration of the Company that bears his name, he would be the first to point out that scores of dedicated employees contributed mightily—and still do—to the success of the organization.
