At the Commercial Observer National Healthcare Construction Forum, I had the privilege of moderating a panel discussion on Navigating Construction Costs and New Project Delivery Methods—a timely topic given today’s market challenges. Our panel of industry experts shared their insights on how healthcare projects can stay on track without compromising quality or patient care. A special thanks to The Berman Group for organizing the event and to Daniel Ahn VP of Planning & Design at Catholic Health; Madeline Julian, AIA, LEED AP Assistant VP of Capital Project Management at Columbia University Irving Medical Center; Vincent Fiorillo Project Executive at Consigli Construction Co., Inc.; and Alex Kaplan President at Cost Concepts for an insightful discussion. As an engineer, I empathize with selling the invisible—because infrastructure tends to only get noticed once it fails.

In honor of World Water Day, JB&B Environmental President Al Barba, in collaboration with Gulshat Tokhtarova representing JB&B BeWell, the firm’s internal wellness group, hosted an informative lunch-and-learn. Topics covered included where water is sourced within our cities, small steps we can take to conserve water, and the importance and privilege of access to clean water. The attendees in the New York office enjoyed some quintessential New York pizza while learning what makes NY pizza so good (hint: it’s the water)! Since 1993, World Water Day has raised awareness about the global water crisis, with the goal to achieve water and sanitation for all by 2030. The 2025 theme, Glacier Preservation, aims to promote global action in managing meltwater sustainably and reducing emissions to protect vital water resources.
