Supporting children and adults with autism and other developmental disabilities since 1975.

About us

Established in 1975 by members of the Autism Society of LA, Jay Nolan Community Services (JNCS) is a leader in innovative community-based support services for children and adults with autism spectrum disorders and other intellectual and developmental disabilities. In the 1990s, JNCS made history in disability services by offering Supported Living. This service disrupted the group home model by enabling adults with disabilities to live independently in their own homes with in-home supports. We believe with the right kinds of assistance, everyone can pursue their hopes and dreams and live to their full potential within the community. Today, JNCS has over 700 staff supporting over 500 individuals. We provide an array of quality services in Los Angeles, Ventura, Kern and Santa Clara Counties, offering individualized planning guided by the needs and wishes of the person receiving services and his or her Circle of Support. Our mission is to enable individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental Disabilities to live fulfilling lives as members of the community by providing support services customized to their individual needs. It is an ideal of inclusion, rather than exclusion and segregation.

  • Congratulations Tiana Logan on becoming a new supervisor for Jay Nolan! 1. Why did you decide to join Jay Nolan Community Services? “I originally decided to check out Jay Nolan because another DSP suggested I do some research and apply. While working with the supervisors here and seeing how differently this company operated from my previous experience I came over to Jay Nolan as a DSP and started working full time. The compassion on every level is unmatched and the mission rings loud and clear. I was given the opportunity to support two younger consumers as a DSP which absolutely broadened my horizons and brought me an incredible amount of joy.” 2. What are you looking forward to most in your new role? “Knowing that I could make a difference for one person has kept me motivated to help as many wonderful individuals as I possibly can. In my role as a supervisor that mission has come into fruition and has allowed me to support so many more individuals in my community to live happier and more fulfilling lives.” 3. What’s the most exciting thing about you that most people don’t know?  “On July 1, 2024 my only child, was killed by the negligence of a driver as she was riding her scooter home from a friend’s house here in Ridgecrest. Her name is TruLuv and she is forever sweet 16. As you can imagine the unexpected loss of my daughter has been devasting and my life and my family’s lives have been forever altered. Jay Nolan has been nothing less of supportive unlike anything I’ve ever experienced before. The out pour of support from the company including communication from our CEO, Edward Amey, many others in our HQ, and the staff who are in my home office provide me strength when the day is just too hard to bear, and has been incredible and more than I could ever ask for. I would like to say Thank you to Jay Nolan as an organization for what you have done for my family also for the individuals and the families that are supported through this organization.” - Tiana Tiana also asks for consideration in signing a petition that will bring lights and other safety measures to Ridgecrest Blvd. #wearejncs #newsupervisor #employment

  • Join us in congratulating Hilary Johnson on becoming a new Supervisor in Ridgecrest! 1. Why did you decide to join Jay Nolan Community Services? “When I was working as a Regional Center Service Coordinator, I heard from many Individuals and their families about how much they love Adaptive Skills services through Jay Nolan. Individuals would light up talking about the fun activities they were doing and how much they valued their DSPs and families were consistently telling me how beneficial the services are. Jay Nolan Community Services is really making a difference in the lives of Individuals in my community! I love seeing Individuals bloom and flourish as they integrate into the community and form meaningful relationships. When I decided to move away from service coordination and into a more “boots-on-the-ground” role in my professional life, I knew I wanted to be a part of the Jay Nolan team and an embodiment of the mission.” 2. What are you looking forward to most in your new role? “For me, building relationships is going to be the most exciting part of being a supervisor at Jay Nolan Community Services. As a person who has family with ASD and ID, this work is very close to my heart.” 3. What's the most exciting thing about you that most people don't know? “Over the past year, I’ve gotten into making my own fermented drinks at home. My current favorites are pineapple tepache and cherry ginger kombucha.” - Hilary #wearejncs #newsupervisor #employment [Image Description: headshot of Hilary Johnson.]
