  Congratulations to Megan Kelly on her promotion to Store Director at the 122 N. Vail Street store in Arlington Heights, IL. Megan started her food retail career in 2000 working as a Produce Manager before joining Jewel-Osco in 2006 as a Store Manager Trainee. After working as a manager in several departments Megan was promoted to Assistant Store Director and has worked in that same role at several Jewel-Osco stores, most recently at 4222 Elm Street, McHenry IL.  #Groceryretail #Promotion #Management

That’s a wrap! As this internships comes to a close, I reflect on the incredible experience I had interning for Jewel-Osco. Ten weeks ago, Sarah and I were tasked with creating a sustainable solution in order to increase plastic pallet retention in the distribution center. We worked closely along with our talented coworkers and were able to create a sustainable process that will help with the issue of plastic pallets. Last week, I traveled to Boise, Idaho to share my findings with fellow interns and staff at the Albertsons headquarters. It was neat being able to see what the other interns came up with as well. Later in the week, I headed to Jewel Osco headquarters to share our presentation with the other interns and leadership team. It was a rewarding finale to an unforgettable internship, leaving me with valuable skills, lasting friendships, and a deeper appreciation for the complexities of supply chain management. I want to thank everyone who guided me throughout this journey I couldn’t have done it without your support!

That is a wrap on my Jewel-Osco Internship… This 10-week Summer program was highly admirable, and by far the coolest work experience I got to be apart of. Special thanks to my Store Director Tammy Stock, our team’s Sponsor Monique Hoguet and my recruiters Magaly Ramos & Diana Catalan for taking me in on this wonderful opportunity I am blessed to be initiated in. Looking back, was fascinating being able to see Jewel-Osco operations from a business perspective and too, seeing the different department work functions that make up Jewels as a whole. No, this will not be the end of my Jewel-Osco journey, and is only the start. I am eager to see what else the company has in store for me continuing on!

Throughout the past 10 weeks, I had the opportunity to work as a Jewel-Osco Summer Business Intern. I worked through different departments throughout the store and closely with my store director utilizing retail strategies to understand the store's everyday operations. I also had the opportunity to work with five other interns on a group project within the 10 weeks to find solutions to maximize efficiency scores for the fresh cut department within the stores. I'm grateful I got to have this experience and to learn different functions within a business. I’m thrilled to share that I’ve successfully completed my internship! This experience has been incredibly rewarding and educational. Last week, I had the honor of traveling to Boise, Idaho, and Itasca, Illinois to present my findings. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with industry professionals, share insights, and receive valuable feedback. A huge thank you to everyone who supported me throughout this journey and Albertsons Companies for hosting me in Boise and Jewel-Osco for welcoming me in Itasca. Your hospitality and enthusiasm made this experience truly memorable. Looking forward to the next chapter and eager to apply what I've learned to future endeavors.

🍁 Autumn is nearing and our interns are headed back to school! 🚗 📓 ✏ We are so proud of all they accomplished during the 2024 Jewel-Osco Summer Business Internship. This program allows talented young professionals to immerse themselves in one of the biggest grocery retailers in the Chicagoland area. During the past 10 weeks, students learned about the importance of store operations, the distribution center, as well as leadership and presentation skills. Additionally, our interns worked with our Sales Managers to brainstorm solutions for current and future business projects. In the end, our leadership team was extremely impressed with the final presentations. We look forward to seeing their best ideas implemented in the near future!   We are pleased to announce that Elizabeth Boyas has been promoted to Store Director at our 2550 N. Clybourn Avenue Chicago, IL store. Liz has worked for Jewel-Osco for nearly two decades, beginning as a Meat Wrapper and eventually becoming a Market Apprentice in 2017. She joined the Store Manager Training Program upon graduation from the University of Illinois at Chicago in 2019.  After successfully completing that program which included a role as Grocery Manager, Liz was promoted to Assistant Store Director and has worked in several locations, with her most recent store at Ashland & Wellington in Chicago, IL.  #JewelJourney #Prideinyoupath #Promotion
