According to IEF - International Energy Forum, copper shortages are threatening the energy transition: “Demand outstripping supply could drive up the cost of electrification, slowing the energy transition in the crucial years when it must proceed at pace to meet agreed climate goals.” Balancing the need for copper with environmental protection is possible. Accelerating clean energy development requires permitting reform. Yesterday, the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee released the Energy Permitting Reform Act of 2024. This bipartisan legislation aims to strengthen American energy security by accelerating the permitting process for critical energy and mineral projects.
