RUSBus Transit has topped out! On Wednesday, 6/12/24, we celebrated completing the structure at the new downtown Raleigh transit center with a catered lunch from local eatery Backyard Bistro and a raffle for the workers onsite. The transit center will serve as a travel hub for bus routes that will connect the Triangle to downtown Raleigh and Union Station and will include six new bus bays, abundant bicycle parking, and room for the future addition of electric vehicle parking spaces. Topping out is a major milestone and we thank everyone who’s had a hand in getting us to this point! The GoTriangle Board got a special onsite look at the construction of the Raleigh Union Station Bus Facility. After getting updates about the Transit Oriented Development, the Board put on hardhats to get an upclose look at the RUS Bus progress. Expected to be completed in mid-2025, this multimodal facility will provide seamless connections between intercity and planned passenger rail service, local, regional, and express bus services, and future bus rapid transit (BRT). Today, we celebrated a significant milestone at the Henle Village project - the topping out of the new student housing at Georgetown University. This achievement would not have been possible without our dedicated subcontractors, who are the real heroes behind this successful project. Together with our client, American Campus Communities, and the architect, RAMSA | Robert A.M. Stern Architects, we gathered at the construction site to honor their hard work and commitment. Our appreciation goes out to every subcontractor team member for their excellent work. Their impressive efforts have made for a stunning backdrop on this important day. #moriarty #construction #toppingout #milestone #moriartybuilds #washingtondc

In honor of National Women in Construction Week, we are highlighting a variety of ways the women at John Moriarty & Associates have been able to grow in their careers. Today we are spotlighting Sali Kedir and her experience becoming a Project Manager: “I started with Moriarty in August 2021 as an Assistant Project Manager working in the Preconstruction department, and within the same year I was promoted to Project Manager. Starting with Preconstruction provided a great foundation for my understanding of Moriarty’s standards, practices, and processes. I am currently managing Moriarty’s first affordable housing building, which is also with a new client. As a Project Manager, I lead a team, work alongside some of the greatest people in the company, and am the face of the project with ownership, design teams, federal and state agencies, etc. Not only am I able to gain unique experience due to this being the first affordable building for the company, but I am also able to be involved in a greater purpose of providing affordable housing. While in this role, I was nominated for GC Project Manager of the Year by the American Subcontractors Association of Metro Washington, along with some of my fellow coworkers. It was a surprise and a tremendous honor to be nominated with a group of likeminded individuals, and it was a fun night seeing everyone dressed up. My advice to anyone looking to pursue a similar career path in the industry is to be dedicated. There will always be someone that knows more or is more experienced than you, so be a sponge and absorb any learning opportunities that come your way. There may be long days ahead, but there are also big rewards at the end. In the end, it’s your legacy standing up that you’ll pass by one day and won’t remember much of the stress but the fruits of your labor standing tall.” #WICWeek2024 #Moriarty #WomenInConstruction

In honor of National Women in Construction Week, we are highlighting a variety of ways the women at John Moriarty & Associates have been able to grow in their careers. Today we are spotlighting Tatiana Ignatova and her experience becoming a Preconstruction Risk Management Assistant and RFP Coordinator: “Since starting at Moriarty a year and a half ago as a Project Coordinator, I recently made the move into Preconstruction. In my new role as Preconstruction Risk Management Assistant and RFP Coordinator, I am working more closely with subcontractors, requesting and reviewing their financial statements, and assisting with contract riders and department scheduling. I also get to help with RFPs, which is both challenging and rewarding. It requires attention to detail, meeting tight deadlines, effective collaboration among team members and understanding the client’s needs. Overall, it’s a rewarding experience once you successfully meet all the requirements and potentially win the bid. I find fulfillment in contributing to projects that make a positive difference for the company. I appreciate how Moriarty has let me try different roles. For example, I had an opportunity to assist the accounting department where I learned more about invoice processing. Now I am learning a totally different role in Precon Risk Management. I am very grateful to Moriarty for giving me all these opportunities. To those interested in pursuing a similar path, my advice is to stay curious, embrace continuous learning and don’t be afraid to take on challenges-they often can lead to the most valuable experience in your career.” #Moriarty #WomenInConstruction #WICWeek2024
