  • Each month, Johnson County Corrections hosts a Community Resource Fair in partnership with Johnson County Library. Join us on Sept. 10 from 10 a.m. until noon ➡ bit.ly/4e3rQFD Community Resource Fairs connect people with resources available in our community and are open to everyone.     • Community Resource Fair - Join us for free resources and supportive services - Community Agencies will be providing information on a variety of areas. Reducing barriers and connecting people to resources in our community.
  • Johnson County Housing Services recently presented at the 2024 Kansas Housing Conference about its Landlord Incentive Pilot Program! Each year the Kansas Housing Conference brings together housing professionals from across the state and region to learn and explore the latest trends and innovations in affordable housing.  Since July 2023, the Landlord Incentive Pilot Program has recruited 50 new participating landlords to accept families with Housing Choice Vouchers or Permanent Supportive Housing Vouchers. 423 people have found long term stable housing including 232 children. Brendon Pishny, the President of the Landlords of Johnson County joined the presentation to highlight the collaboration between Johnson County and his organization.   • Johnson County has been recognized for its inclusion initiatives with a 2024 Award of Excellence from the national Public Sector Human Resources Association. The cornerstone of Johnson County’s inclusion efforts is its VIBE (Voices of Inclusion, Belonging and Equity) program.     Johnson County Human Resources and Johnson County Wastewater were excited to work with Mid America Regional Council's Government Training Institute to bring this development opportunity to infrastructure professionals throughout the region!

    GTI partnered with Johnson County, KS Government to host "Becoming an Inclusive Leader," a DEIB training for supervisors and managers. This training drew individuals from across the Kansas City region, particularly those in public works roles. The two-day experiential training, led by Dr. Antoinette Allen, provided participants with the opportunity to immerse themselves in interactive modules, covering crucial topics such as trust-building, navigating challenging communications, understanding generational diversity, and fostering connections within diverse teams. Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a successful event!

  • “I believe the AI survey's results highlight the innovative spirit within Johnson County Government.” - Bill Nixon, Director of the Department of Technology and Innovation (DTI) Johnson County is at the forefront of the AI revolution. To harness the potential of this transformative technology while mitigating risks, we recently established the Johnson County AI Committee. This dedicated group is actively monitoring the latest AI advancements and developing policies to guide responsible usage within our county. To better understand employee needs and preferences, the committee initiated a survey to assess current AI tool adoption and interest. The gathered insights will inform the development of comprehensive education and guidelines for safe and effective AI implementation across all departments. Johnson County is committed to a future where AI enhances services, improves efficiency and benefits our community.

    • Innovation Spotlight - Recognizing AI's potential to transform operations, Johnson County established an AI Committee to guide its implementation. A recent employee survey suggests a cautious but optimistic stance towards AI and automation from the county’s workforce.  
 
65% of employees who use AI tools reported improvements in efficiency and productivity, and 50% felt that AI enhanced the quality of their work.
