We'd like to congratulate one of our outstanding employees, Jared Vigil. Jared was one of the recipients of the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Congressional Recognition certificates. The ceremony was hosted by Congressman @BurgessOwens at the Utah State Capitol Rotunda last week and recognized many individuals in the 4th Congressional District who have made valuable contributions to their community and country. Jared was recognized for his service in the US Navy and for his dedicated work operating the Jordan Valley Water system which serves over 775,000 residents in the Salt Lake Valley. We were happy and proud to attend the ceremony and watch Jared represent Jordan Valley Water so well. Congratulations Jared!

We are proud to have contributed 5,300-acre feet of water (out of 10,000-acre feet total) to feed Great Salt Lake. It's roughly the same amount that our customers conserved over the past year by reducing their outdoor water use and looking for new ways to save. "People can make a difference. Our combined efforts working together to save water, can result in releases to Great Salt Lake." - Alan Packard, General Manager of Jordan Valley Water Conservancy District https://lnkd.in/g_fryuAd

Teamwork makes the dream work 🤝. Our maintenance department spent the afternoon with iMpact Utah for an engaging and challenging team building exercise that consisted of a simulated nascar pit crew experience. We had to practice skills in communication, problem solving, collaboration, leadership and more as we competed against each other towards achieving the fastest time in changing two tires on the car. One winning team was able to get the job done in 32 seconds! That’s pretty good time relative to others, but that’s only one side of the race car - how do the pro pit crews do it!? Teamwork is an important part of our company culture and we’re proud to provide learning opportunities like this for our employees. There’s no doubt that strong teamwork and leadership help us do our jobs well. Our Equipment Maintenance Team is tasked with fixing and maintaining all of our equipment at JVWCD, from work trucks, to equipment in our facilities. Their skill set is as versatile as the projects they take on. Today they reinstalled a maturation mixer at one of our water treatment facilities. The mixer works like a giant immersion blender to help particles in the water settle out faster during the flocculation phase of raw water treatment. While the installation is simple in theory (attaching the shaft to the motor, then fastening on the blades and putting the motor back together), it’s not a simple project because of the sheer size of this piece of equipment. The hard work of our equipment maintenance team helps us reliably deliver high quality drinking water to our 800k+ customers in the Salt Lake Valley. 💪🏼🛠️ Learn more about our water at www.jvwcd.org #utahwater #watertreatment #watertreatmentplants #cleandrinkingwater #watersource #equipmentmaintenance #waterworks #waterdistribution #waterdistrict

Our in house Facility & Grounds Maintenance Team works hard to keep all of our facilities in great shape - everything from grounds landscaping to indoor facility maintenance (like deep cleaning our tanks and reservoirs and cleaning treatment plants too). Projects are both big and small and we are grateful for all their hard work which enables our operations to run smoothly across the company. Many of our employees (including leadership) got their start at Jordan Valley Water on this team and have since progressed into other areas to help the district grow and innovate over the years. Our Meters teams makes sure that all of our meters (the big ones tracking water flow through major pipelines to cities, and the smaller ones tracking flow to homes and businesses) are working properly. This helps ensure that billing is accurate so you don’t get over charged and it supports our System Operations team as they manage the flow of water through our entire underground infrastructure. Next time you see one of our guys around town checking meters in your area, say hello!👋🏼 They’re great at helping our customers handle any troubleshooting or questions with meters. Our System Operations team has to manage the flow and the pressure of municipal water as it moves through the complex pipe infrastructure under the Salt Lake Valley. That means that to get water to all the areas in the valley depending on water demand (like high summer when people are using a lot more water) we need to boost it - or increase the pressure so more water can get to where it needs to go (I.e. your tap). As lead operator, Kolby, explains, our booster stations are connected to a computer system that monitors the flow and pressure. Sometimes we can manage it on the computer at our command center, other times we have to be there onsite to turn valves. We are proud of the dedication and attention to detail that our team displays 24/7 in order to ensure every customer in our service district has clean drinking water when they then need it!
