    Program Director, NAMI CCNS

NAMI Cook County North Suburban partnered with Josselyn and the Skokie Public Library to implement "Teen Mental Health First Aid" on Sunday. "Teen Mental Health First Aid" is an "evidence-based program that teaches teens how to identify, understand, and respond to signs of mental health and substance use challenges in their friends and peers" (National Council for Mental Wellbeing, 2024). After this course, teens are now able to: 1. Recognize the early warning signs that a friend is developing a mental health or substance use challenge 2. Recognize the warning signs that a friend might be experiencing a mental health crisis 3. Describe how to talk to a friend about mental health and seeking help, explain when and how to get a responsible adult involved 4. Discuss where to find appropriate and helpful resources about mental health challenges and professional help 5. Apply the tMHFA Action Plan to help a friend with a mental health or substance use challenge or crisis. Thank you to our partners for making this happen!
