Amanda Sampo is a 1L at Jacksonville University College of Law. She earned her undergraduate degree from Jacksonville University, where she majored in Business Management and Marketing. During her time as an undergraduate, Amanda was a dedicated member of the JU Women's Rowing team for all four years. Following the completion of her bachelor's degree, Amanda pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at Jacksonville University while serving as a graduate student advisor at JU's Davis College of Business & Technology. When asked about her decision to attend the College of Law, she said, "I loved the small class sizes and the connections I was able to make with my undergraduate professors and wanted to continue that while receiving my J.D. Being more than pleased with my undergraduate experience, I knew JU COL would be nothing less! I am really looking forward to making more connections by networking in the Jacksonville area!"

Adjunct Professor Katelyn Johnston teaches Trial Advocacy and is the Trial Team coach at #JULaw. When asked about her experience as a trial team member in law school, and the importance of trial advocacy, she said, "Trial team will teach you to think on your feet, cite the rules of evidence in your sleep, and build juror rapport with your presence. Trial team taught me to be brave and adventurous in my advocacy because I already had a solid foundation from law school." She joined the Office of General Counsel in 2024 after serving for over ten years with the State Attorney's Office for the Fourth Judicial District. Professor Johnston graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts in English and Religious Studies. She obtained her Juris Doctor from Stetson University College of Law and recently graduated from Florida State University with a master's in public administration.

This week, we hosted the 5th District Court of Appeal Oral Arguments, giving our students a chance to see the legal proceedings in person, on their own campus. A special thanks to Judges Scott Makar, Adrian Soud and Harvey Jay, who stayed after presiding over oral arguments to have lunch with students!

A huge THANK YOU to Morgan & Morgan, P.A., who will be sponsoring our Trial Team! We're so thankful for their extremely generous support of our students as they hone their trial skills and compete in competitions across the state. We can't wait to see all they accomplish as a team this year!
