Last Friday, we were honored to welcome Senator Kennedy and Representative Kilcoyne to our Developing Abilities program in Northborough! The visit focused on the challenges and needs our program faces, from transportation and transitional services to implementing new legislation. Our clients were thrilled to meet them and showed their appreciation by gifting handmade crafts, inviting them to visit again soon. JRI had the honor of hosting State Representative Sam Montaño for a meaningful visit where we discussed our extensive work in youth and family services, health programs, and community-based support. Together, we discussed key initiatives such as wraparound support, trauma-informed care, and housing assistance for youth and individuals living with HIV & HCV. It was a great opportunity to showcase our dedicated and diverse team, as well as our commitment to reducing homelessness, promoting health prevention, and fostering workforce readiness. 🎉 Exciting news! Meet Mike Khorshidianzadeh, a dedicated history teacher with JRI's Victor School program since 2011. Dual-licensed in History and Special Education, Mike's passion for social justice shines through his work with the DEI Committee and History UnErased to ensure accurate LGBTQIA representation in history curricula. This summer, he was selected as a Teach Plus Fellow, where he’s shaping educational policy. This fall, Mike will be presenting at the Mass CUE Annual Conference on "Going Beyond the Headlines in History," showcasing how to use digital archives to enhance historical research. His session will help teachers leverage Massachusetts Libraries and the Library of Congress for deeper insights, going beyond AI searches to provide richer historical context.
