Transforming Communities Through Integrated Design & Construction Excellence
About us
Established in St. Louis in 1980, KAI Enterprises has grown into one of the leading and most respected design and build firms. We provide delivery-oriented building solutions nationwide with a diverse portfolio of experience, 150+ in-house multi-discipline professionals, and expertise in both design and construction delivery. More importantly, we are designers and builders out to make a difference in our communities. Through our integrated design and build strategy, we offer both award-winning design services (architecture, interior design and engineering) and build services (general contracting and program, project and construction management) all under one roof. Our goal is to incorporate these two strengths to deliver the best value, solution and people to achieve your vision, budget and schedule. Currently serving as the Executive Architect for the National Juneteenth Museum, KAI seeks out culturally conscious, and politically sensitive projects that will make lasting differences in the lives they touch. KAI was built upon a foundation of teamwork and collaboration and has since grown into one of the largest minority-owned firms in the AEC industry. For more than 40 years, we have been instrumental in transforming communities through its expertise in residential, commercial, K-12, higher education, healthcare, science and technology, aviation, mobility, sports and entertainment, government, water and community-focused projects. https://linktr.ee/kaienterprises

KAI along with the St. Louis Construction Consortium recognize that supplier diversity is critical to the success of the construction industry. Together, we are fostering growth through inclusivity. KAI volunteers came out to assist in helping the event run smoothly. In addition, we took a moment to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Anthony Thompson, President and CEO of Kwame Building Group. Congratulations, Tony! We couldn't be more excited to be a part of the fantastic team on this transformational public safety project! City of Dallas Dallas Police Department University of North Texas at Dallas Communities Foundation of Texas HKS, Inc. Mwl Architects #TransformingCommunities
Notable quotes from local and state dignitaries at an emotional design kick-off for the Dallas Police Regional Training Center at the University of North Texas at Dallas. From left to right, top to bottom: Dallas Major Eric Johnson: “(this facility) represents the city’s dedication to public safety and will revolutionize efforts to ensure that Dallas is the safest major city in America.” State Senator Royce West: “I grew in this part of town, working and thinking, “one day, we’re going to have facilities in this area that rival the best in the State of Texas.” Lt. Governor Dan Patrick: “No other profession, no one, wakes up every morning committed to putting their life on the line for a total stranger.” Council member Tennell Atkins: “The center will ensure career advancement and leadership in police force.” DPD Chief Eddie Garcia: “Today is the day we begin putting down in paper the dream of making this academy the pinnacle of law enforcement training not just in Texas, but in the entire country… this facility will establish a new benchmark for police training.” Interim President of UNT Dallas Warren Von Eschenbach: “This partnership with the Dallas Police Academy will continue to enable our mission to provide students with high quality academic programs that include opportunities for rich experiential learning and expand educational access.” Exciting to finally get started with this transformative project, which seeks to be a new benchmark in public safety training, aiming to bring the police force and the communities it serves, closer together. Big thanks to all our partners! Dallas Police Department City of Dallas University of North Texas at Dallas Communities Foundation of Texas HKS, Inc. KAI Enterprises Mwl Architects

We had a great time in Houston at the Texas Society of Architects Annual Conference & Design Expo! Kudos to KAI Civic, Municipal, & Cultural Market Leader Brien Graham, AIA, NOMA, NCARB, and to KAI 360 CS Senior Project Manager Sean Creque, who were both part of the wide variety of panels and education offerings. Members of the KAI team who attended came back with thoughts and perspectives influenced by the conference theme of “The Bridge,” a reference to the musical transition that connects one part of a composition to another, just as a physical bridge does. This dynamic shift in music parallels the work of our designers, who create spaces that are both functional and inspirational. LaPorshe’ Washington, Assoc. AIA shared, “I was inspired by all of the sessions that focused on equity in our profession and how others are working to properly develop communities.” Keenan Parker, NOMA, Assoc. AIA found the tours of historical buildings in and around Houston to be the most impactful part of the trip, and he appreciated “the chance to expand my knowledge on multiple topics in architecture through the sessions provided.” Opportunities for professional development are vital to our learning and growth. Thank you to TxA for this fantastic event! #TransformingCommunities #TxA24 #AnnualConference #AlwaysLearning #ProfessionalDevelopment #Architecture #Construction

Today is #WorldArchitectureDay, and the KAI family is ecstatic to celebrate this year’s theme, “Empowering the Next Generation in Participatory Urban Design.” It’s the perfect opportunity to highlight the role of young architects in urban planning and development! At KAI, our numerous young architects and designers are essential to our success, and their fresh and thoughtful perspectives strengthen our creative process. Their passion for fostering the participatory client engagement and design processes is an asset to every project! Our architects and designers can’t wait to dive into discussions about this year’s big topics: energy efficiency, waste management, sustainable materials, and sustainable mobility. These are more than just buzzwords—they are core to how we design, what we believe in and our philosophy of #TransformingCommunities, making sure every project meets the needs of everyone involved, today and for the future. Let’s build a better tomorrow, together!
