Advancing vulnerable children and communities globally with sustainable education, life skills, and fresh water

About us

Since our beginnings in 2009, our mission has been to advance disenfranchised children and their communities in rural areas around the globe by providing sustainable, culturally competent programs. Our holistic initiatives aim to increase access to education, clean water, and hygiene assistance in the communities we serve. Worldwide an estimated 356 million- or 1 in 6- children live in extreme poverty. These children also face immense barriers to education such as having no teacher, no classroom, or no learning materials. Health and Education are simply essential to breaking this cycle of poverty in our communities. With the support of our donors and volunteers, we have carried out clean water initiatives, implemented medical aid projects, and provided educational programs in Cambodia, India, and Guatemala to create a brighter tomorrow for our students. Our vision for the future is to improve the quality of life and help foster the aspirations of vulnerable children while strengthening literacy, health, and gender equality within emergent communities worldwide. Come join us!

  • FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Local Non-Profit to Be Subject of Feature Documentary ATLANTA, GA – Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, an Atlanta-based global non-profit, is proud to announce that it will be the subject of an upcoming feature documentary. The foundation, which provides quality education, life skills, cultural arts support, IT technology training, food programs, and sanitation and hygiene initiatives to over 1,000 children annually, is celebrating its 20-year journey of transforming the lives of some of the world’s most vulnerable children. Founded by Executive Director David Ault, Kaleidoscope Child Foundation has built schools in Cambodia and India and formed partnerships with language schools in Guatemala, Africa, and the United States. The documentary, directed by Michael McKinley, the award-winning filmmaker behind “Happy,” will chronicle the foundation’s inspiring story and its impact over the past two decades. On Sunday, September 15th, beginning at 9 AM, Kaleidoscope will host one of its major annual fundraisers – a 5K Walk/Race for Education. The film director and crew will be in Atlanta to capture footage of this event before traveling overseas in January to document the stories of the many lives changed by Kaleidoscope’s efforts. For more information, please contact: Niki Murphy and David Ault at info@kaleidoscopechildfoundation.org  Also visit our website for complete 5K Walk/Race information at https://lnkd.in/g3ZZeD6b

  • Context - Little to no literacy or scholastic comprehension prior to 2016 in these communities. Today these Indian children in our Bodhgaya and Lakhanpur schools are a classic example of - water to a sponge - education opportunity to readied and able minds. Thank you for helping us keep going! They are dedicated, resilient, and hopeful for a future of possibility. Here are 4 funnels of support through Kaleidoscope Child Foundation that will help us reach our new fall goal at the 5K Walk/Race for Education. https://lnkd.in/esFTHUFb Share it! Shout it! • For a while now, we have come to terms with the reality that those of us plugging away in service to Kaleidoscope Child Foundation are aging. I would add ‘aging gracefully,’ but aging nonetheless. And it is always prudent for any organization to continuously consider the long game. One shining star consistently emerging in these conversations is the vital nature of securing an endowment. At its most basic, a large enough endowment generates sufficient interest every year to cover the cost of all administrative needs and allows a non-profit to legitimately promote that 100% of all donations go towards programming. Think of universities whose alumni have established endowments for their alma mater, ensuring long-lasting stability for the institution. Late last year, founder David Ault was approached by a talented and eager documentarian. The ensuing conversation led to the reality of capturing the origin story of the Kaleidoscope Child Foundation and its rich 20-year history. A film crew + approximately 14 others, consisting of alumni and newbies will be traveling back to Cambodia and India to begin filming this January. The documentary will showcase the lives of students impacted, the outcomes of bringing clean water to villages, and the ripple effect that life skills training has had on the children, their families and their surrounding communities. It will offer an inspired glimpse into the miracle of education. The vision for the project is submission to the major film festival circuit, theatrical and streaming release. The filmmaker and crew are doing everything at cost and the entire budget for such an undertaking is approximately $115,000. Of that, $38,000 is needed first to get overseas and shoot the film. That’s where it gets sticky—good sticky, but sticky. It feels like a lot to ask you to support a movie while still relying on your continued generosity for our basic needs, programming, and yearly budget to keep the schools and programs running. WHAT TO DO? We’ve separated the two projects: the filmmaker’s production company manages fundraising for the film, while KCF handles and promotes our regular fundraising needs. Yet, there may be some of you who have a little extra to give to both. And as the saying goes, if you don’t ask, the answer will always be no. So here are both opportunities! On the https://gofund.me/70adaa57 link, you’ll find the entire origin and scope of what the movie will be. There’s a video of our founder and filmmaker, Michael McKinley, discussing the project. By clicking the READ MORE: link, you’ll see breakdowns of categories, perks, and additional information, along with a link to view McKinley’s award-winning documentary, HAPPY. Remember to click on the words READ MORE: to explore further.   And our Atlanta based annual fall 5K Run/Walk for Education happens September 15th. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/esFTHUFb

  • Someone asked the great Indian guru Neem Karoli Baba, ‘How can I get enlightened?’ and he replied, ‘Feed people.’ It's now been twenty years since our founder David Ault's encounter with a large group of displaced and starving children on the banks of the Tonle Sap Lake in Cambodia and today, as Kaleidoscope Child Foundation, we continue to annually feed, educate, uplift, and champion 1000+ children with a chance to experience greater quality of life. With a comparatively small budget, our work is a testament to just how far a US dollar can go in developing countries. David's birthday is this Sunday, and it would mean the world to him if you considered making a contribution towards buoying our budget. Never underestimate the power that any amount has in making a difference clear across the world. We're running this fundraising campaign through July 7th where you're invited to come to David's home and let him feed you for all the ways you have fed him throughout his 65 years. Many many thanks to Moodle from Kaleidoscope Child Foundation for gifting us free premium hosting on Moodlecloud for our NGO. The sky is the limit for us now in our mission to provide high quality content for teaching and learning to our students and teachers in the poorest and most vulnerable schools in India and Cambodia in the critical areas of hygiene, pollution prevention and gender equity. We have leveraged ATTO editor to embed google slides. We will leverage Moodle app's sync feature to synch content, progress, grades so that even when offline, students and teachers will continue to teach and learn with affordable mobile devices.

  • This is not just your average science project! Puja, a student at our village school outside Bodhgaya, shares her project explaining the earth’s rotation with support from her teacher Arpana Kumari. When you take into consideration that this school had its beginning in 2017, you can share in the thrill we always feel when children finally find an outlet for learning. This school as well as our Lakhanpur school about an hour away, now provide sustainable quality education to 200 children. We celebrate our dedicated teachers and their commitment to Kaleidoscope Child Foundation. #KaleidoscopeChildFoundation #VillageSchool #India #bodhgaya #globaleducation #education #educationmatters #educationforall
