    Building great products

It's launch day: Introducing brand-new features in Repurpose Studio! Repurposing long-form videos into engaging social media clips is still one of the best ways for marketers to get more mileage (and ROI) from their video content. That's why we've been busy building powerful new features in Repurpose Studio, our AI-powered clip maker: 🎨 Move fast and stay on-brand with templates Create custom, reusable brand templates that automatically apply your preferred colors, fonts, subtitle styles, overlays, and more. Make every clip look super polished and on-brand with just a few clicks. 🔎 Discover your very best highlights with topic prompts Get right to the good stuff by using text prompts that help Repurpose Studio find the exact discussion points you want to clip. Never waste time wading through clips you don't need again. 🪄 Fill your social calendar with top-quality clips Find hidden gems from long-form videos and quickly get them social-ready with instant resizing, animated subtitles, and Speaker Focus—a smart tool that keeps the active speakers in the frame. -- Our difference: Repurpose Studio is for the brand-obsessed marketer who wants to accelerate their work with AI. We don't try to replace your good taste or force "take it or leave it" design choices; we just make it easy to create great-looking clips tailored to your brand that look like you edited them entirely by hand—but that take a fraction of the time to make. Try out the latest features in Repurpose Studio right here: https://lnkd.in/dXJz7C98 I'm looking forward to everyone's feedback! Message me here or leave a comment if you want to share—I'd love to hear how Kapwing can better support your repurposing workflow.

🎯 𝗧𝗜𝗣: Keep the active speaker (or the best reaction!) in-frame for all of your podcast clips with the new and improved Speaker Focus. 51% of viewers say that they prefer video podcasts to audio only specifically to see the faces and reactions of the hosts and guests. If you’re not keeping the active speaker in frame, your clips will lose that draw. But manually cutting back and forth between two or more speakers is time consuming and tedious. Fortunately, it’s also unnecessary. Instead, use Speaker Focus, a free tool inside Kapwing's Repurpose Studio, to automatically detect who’s talking and center them in frame, no matter what aspect ratio your new clip is. And like everything you make in Repurpose Studio, Speaker Focus is completely customizable. You can even manually override auto detect if it selected the wrong person or if you want to capture a big or funny reaction from someone who’s not speaking. Simply click on the correct speaker with Speaker Selection. Try it out for yourself and see the difference it makes!

Hey, have you heard? The world's first commissioned music video made entirely with OpenAI's Sora was released today. It's called, "The Hardest Part". Social media is, of course, running amuck. But what far fewer people know is that AI has been quietly making its way into music videos for years now. That includes everything from Billy Joel’s AI-augmented comeback video, “Turn the Lights Back On,” to completely AI-generated music videos like, *𝘢𝘩𝘦𝘮*, a "frog cyborg rock show" created by Futurepedia. So, that's cool! But how exactly can you create an entire music video with just a few AI tools? And how can you do it 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝𝙤𝙪𝙩 access to OpenAI's Sora model? We went hunting and found answers. Building great products

A few weeks ago, we unveiled the all-new Repurpose Studio with features like: 🎨 Custom brand templates to create clips faster 🔎 Topic prompts to find *exactly* the moment you're looking for 🎥 Speaker Focus to always keep the active speakers in-frame But, we're not done yet—not even close. I'm excited to share that we've added two major improvements to Speaker Focus, our auto-focus feature in Repurpose Studio. Here's what's new: 1️⃣ 𝗦𝘄𝗮𝗽 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘀𝗽𝗲𝗮𝗸𝗲𝗿𝘀 in a single click to focus on the speaker (or reaction!) that best fits what's being said at that moment. 2️⃣ 𝗔𝗱𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽'𝘀 𝗳𝗿𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗻𝗴 in seconds so that active speakers or backgrounds are always positioned correctly in-frame. We've been sweating the small stuff, too. We also recently added clip duration to Repurpose Studio so you can select how long you want your generated clips to be—perfect for sourcing shorts for every social platform. Try it for free! The link will be in the comments.

The average content marketer spends almost 33 hours per week just creating new content. 🤯 That’s almost 83% of the work week. According to the State of the Content Marketer Report from Casted, content marketers are looking to technology to help them: ✅ Improve their presence online ✅ Make more AI-powered content ✅ Streamline their workflows ✅ Create better video content ✅ Get time back for strategy One way to check off all those boxes? Repurpose your existing content and ideas. On average, a long-form video takes around 6 hours to produce. A social media post, 3.4 hours. That’s a total of nearly 10 hours of work. Or you could produce the long video, then use Repurpose Studio to turn it into three or four social media videos in just a few minutes. And repurposing your content isn’t just about getting back time in your work week (although who doesn’t want extra time?). It’s more effective – and efficient – to remix and reimagine top-performing ideas than mass-producing a bunch of new, unproven content.

❓POP QUIZ: How long can videos be on Instagram? It's a simple question, but with all of the changes Instagram has made over the years (RIP IGTV), the answer is now somewhat complicated. Here's the short version: 1️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗣𝗼𝘀𝘁𝘀, or videos posted to the Feed, can be up to 60 minutes long.* 2️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗥𝗲𝗲𝗹𝘀 can be up to 90 seconds long—with exceptions.** 3️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗦𝘁𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀 can be up to 60 seconds long.*** 4️⃣ 𝗜𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗺 𝗟𝗶𝘃𝗲 recordings can be up to 4 hours long. 5️⃣ 𝗩𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼𝘀 𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀 can currently be up to 5 minutes long. OK, but now we have to get into all of those edge cases. Here we go: *Instagram Posts can only be 60 minutes long when posted from the desktop app. When they're posted from the Instagram mobile app, they're cut down to 15 minutes and posted as Reels. **The 90-second limit for Reels only applies to videos recorded and posted directly from the Instagram camera. In 2022, Instagram announced that all other videos (i.e., those not posted via the Instagram camera) that were under 15 minutes in length would be shared as a Reel automatically—and that is still the case today. ***Videos posted as Instagram Stories can be up to 60 seconds long regardless of whether you record it directly with the Instagram camera or upload it separately. However, Stories that are longer than 60 seconds will no longer be automatically split into multiple Stories, as was the case when Stories were only 15 seconds long. Hope that helps. We'll see you back here next time Instagram decides to change the limits on us all.

🎯 𝗧𝗜𝗣: Stop their scroll with a 5-second hook. You’ve only got a few seconds to convince someone to watch *your* video (instead of the hundreds of other videos at their fingertips). Use one of these video hook formulas to grab attention in your next clip: 1. “Did you know…?” Start your clip with a surprising factoid or data point. 2. Five-second story time. Give the main points of your story upfront then let the clip unpack the details. 3. Ask a polarizing question. Ask a question where the answer is polarizing or unclear, then answer the question in the clip–and get ready to defend your answer in the comments. 4. Start with a list. Give your viewers a table of contents up top so they know what to expect in the video. 5. Share a preview. Show a sneak peek of something you’ll reveal in more detail later in the clip. Once you choose your hook formula, make sure you execute it well. The visuals, sound design, and even tone of voice you use can be just as important as the words you’re saying. Every part of your video hook should be designed to grab attention quickly and stop viewers from scrolling away. Are there other video hook formulas and tactics you use in your clips? Share them in the comments!
