We work to improve the health and quality of life of residents in Forsyth County and around North Carolina. Est. 1947.
About us
We work to improve the health and quality of life of residents in Forsyth County and around the state. Kate Bitting Reynolds established the Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust in 1947 to improve the quality of life and health of residents throughout North Carolina. During her lifetime, she worked to ensure everyone—regardless of race, gender, or income—had access to health care, quality education, and economic opportunity. Few women of her day were as outspoken about the issues facing residents with low incomes. Today, the issues Mrs. Reynolds cared about remain urgent and interconnected. We are excited to announce our our new strategy to support outcomes over specific issues. We are committed to supporting promising and proven programs that can be scaled up, and to promoting equity—to ensure success for people too often left behind.

Despite facing generational challenges in poverty, healthcare, systemic racism, and other issues that are often top-of-mind for major funders, the U.S. South has seen comparatively little institutional philanthropic investment over the decades. Major new investments and initiatives from prominent players like the Ford Foundation, Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, and others — along with the ongoing fallout from Hurricane Helene — could spark a larger shift in attention and funding. Trish Abalo and Tory Martin take a closer look in this piece from our latest Trends report. → https://lnkd.in/gHwz5Azy #South #Funders #Philanthropy

In an effort to provide aid and relief to those most impacted by Hurricane Helene, the NC Counts Coalition is accepting donations on behalf of their Western NC member organizations working to provide critical support to local communities. So far, they have purchased pallets of water and boxes of supplies to be delivered to Asheville and Burke County, coordinated multiple donation locations in Charlotte and Raleigh, and used their general operating funds to provide direct payments to community-based organizations. If you or someone you know would like to support disaster relief through their existing infrastructure, donate via the link below. For donations/funding, contact Director of Partnerships Angeline Echeverria at Angeline@nccounts.org. For support with communications, contact Director of Communications Tracy Mosley at Tracy@nccounts.org. https://bit.ly/3BD2qQv
