As we move into the later half of the season, we are continuing to #CelebrateTheRun with JE Dunn Construction and the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum! To mark its 100th anniversary, JE Dunn has committed to donate $100 for every Royals run at home to support the rich history of the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum! Just as the Kansas City Monarchs made history in 1924, JE Dunn is celebrating a century of excellence by supporting another KC legacy.

SchoolSmartKC is thrilled to announce the launch of a city-wide literacy plan. This plan aims to increase kindergarten through third-grade literacy levels, strengthening the academic foundation for students by bringing together schools, community partners, families, and the public to collaborate on ensuring strong literacy outcomes for students in Kansas City. The ability to read by third grade is essential, not only for academic success, but also for economic mobility, civic engagement, and a prepared and robust workforce. Students with lower literacy rates are likely to face lifelong challenges, including limited access to employment, health care, and economic opportunities. This plan is built on proven, time-tested strategies and, when fully funded, will equip 41 elementary schools with full-time literacy coaches and high-dosage, high-impact tutoring during the school day for every Kindergarten through 3rd grade student. Thanks to a generous donation of $6.4 million from The Kansas City Royals Foundation, the Kansas City Royals and the Sherman Family Foundation, the first phase of this work will begin in nine elementary schools with literacy coaches and high impact tutoring expected to start with the 2024/5 school year. This week our Royals Families knocked it out of the park! On Friday, July 19th during the game against the White Sox, these ladies put together over 100+ Happy Kits. This group then took a visit to The University of Kansas Health System to deliver the Happy Kits to patients in the Pediatric Unit. Kits included age appropriate activities, and gift cards for both patient and families.
