KDDI Spherience is a globally distributed connectivity center of excellence within the KDDI Corporation, a group that employs over 60,000 people. The KDDI Spherience team excel in areas such as Connectivity, Automotive, Satellite and IoT. A couple of areas where we don’t quite excel yet are in Online and Social but we’re working on it! That’s why we’re incredibly proud of our short journey (more like a day trip really) from zero to almost 500 followers here on #LinkedIn (481 to be exact since we are counting). One day we hope to have earned a ‘K’ after that 500 (481). Our aim is to use this platform to spread the word about #mobility, #IoT and #ConnectedCar. By creating ‘A World of Meaningful Connections’, both technical and personal, we want to help the industry transform itself to become fully software- and data-driven, yet full of human intelligence. Ltd with electric motorcycle models for the Japanese market, based on the Honda “EM1 e:” and “BENLY e: I” models. The companies have been reportedly working on electrification collaborations since 2016, hoping to outline a strategy for Japanese Class-1 motorcycles and addressing challenges such as compliance with increasingly stringent safety/emission standards, and pursuing electrification of e-bikes. All the while, Honda was supplying 50cc scooters to Yamaha as an OEM. In 2019, Honda and Yamaha joined hands with Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd. and Suzuki Motor Corporation to establish the Swappable Battery Consortium for Electric Motorcycles. The companies collaborated to standardize mutual-use swappable batteries and their swapping systems as one solution to address key challenges in popularizing electric motorcycles like range and charging time, eventually reaching an agreement to standardize in 2021.
