Keystone's Chief Scientific Advisor Dr. Susan Athey recently connected with ZDNET's Joe McKendrick to share her insights on the evolving tech and AI economy. Susan and Joe discuss the shifting landscape of technology skills in an AI-driven world like the growing importance of high-level architectural and critical thinking skills, increasing demand for AI system evaluation capabilities, and the crucial role of effective and accurate data management and use for AI initiatives. As Susan notes, "It's difficult and expensive to build and deploy AI-driven systems, but the net result is technology infrastructures and applications that deliver more quickly and efficiently." ICYMI: Last week, Keystone announced Susan Athey's return to the firm as she steps into her new role as Chief Scientific Advisor. In a recent article from the Stanford Report, Rebecca Beyer (she/her) dove into the roots of Susan's career and what continues to drive her. A renowned economist known for her pioneering work across industries, Susan started out as a young computer science enthusiast and student who became "impressed by the impact economics could have on policy and industry." “I like building things that demonstrate how a class of problems can be solved,” Susan said in the piece, and she'll be doing just that as she works across our CoreAI and ETA groups to help our clients solve their most complex challenges. Keystone is proud to have partnered with Amazon again on their latest annual economic impact report. In collaboration with Amazon, Keystone economists analyzed the company's investment data to assess its impact on communities worldwide. What did we find? In the U.S. alone, Amazon has contributed over $1 trillion to GDP since 2010 and supports almost 5 million jobs across the country – both through direct employment and the opportunities that spring up around their community investments. We also analyzed Amazon’s impact on over 1,000 small towns and rural areas throughout the country. This work was led by Keystone's Carina Cheng, Sr. Engagement Manager.
