About us
The Kidney Cancer Association is a global community dedicated to serving and empowering patients and caregivers, and leading change through advocacy, research, and education in order to be the universal leader in finding the cure for kidney cancer. The Kidney Cancer Association was founded in 1990 by Eugene P. Schonfeld and a small group of patients and doctors in Chicago, Illinois and has grown into an international non-profit organization. The KCA promotes scientific advances through two annual research symposia and a robust grant program, participates in legislative advocacy, and seeks to be a source of education and resources for patients, caregivers, and anyone impacted by kidney cancer.

Today on #KidneyCancerUnfiltered, Raul Chavez, an 18-year kidney cancer survivor with an unclassifiable diagnosis, shares the emotional and mental toll of living life in three-month intervals, always wondering if he’ll receive a new lease on life with each #scan. He delves into the first five years of his journey, which he describes as being in "survivor mode," and the PTSD he endured after diagnosis. Raul’s story is a reminder of the impact of cancer beyond the physical and the challenges of long-term #survivorship. Raul’s full episode on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or YouTube! https://lnkd.in/enMCymTC #unclassifiedRCC #YAC #cancersurvivor #ptsd #mentalhealth

We chatted with Trailblazer Awardee Dr. Laura Bukavina about her research project to understand how microplastics and nanoplastics might accumulate in the kidneys - which filter all our blood of impurities - and potentially increase the risk of kidney cancer. Understanding environmental factors like this could help address prevention, treatment, and public health strategies in the future! #kidneycancer https://bit.ly/3C7KQnW
