In honor of #LatinxHeritageMonth, we partnered with the San Francisco Lowrider Council to put together a lowrider installation in our lobby. Through this exhibit, people will learn the significance and history of lowrider culture in the Mission District and what it means to the community. The installation will be up through October 12th, so if you're at our headquarters, be sure to check it out! Special thanks to Paloma Abarca Cortes, Eric Abrams, Yo Ann Martinez, El Yepez Bike Club, local artists Ernesto Paul and Estefany Gonzalez, and Frisco's Finest Car Club. Photos by Alex Tran.

This month, we're congratulating three members of our staff on reaching big milestones at KQED! Get to know these three service award recipients: Lee Macpherson has been with KQED for 5 years as our Director of TV Engineering and Operations. From the moment Lee arrived at KQED, he has made a significant and lasting impact for the TV Engineering department. Lee was instrumental in establishing remote workflows for our operations teams during the pandemic and continues to be a key contributor in all TV Engineering and Operations projects. We couldn't do it without you, Lee! Matt Hitchcock is celebrating 5 years as the Director of Leadership Gifts. Matt is KQED Development's metal Ted Lasso. That is obviously the biggest compliment that can be paid, but Matt is a warm team leader who leads by listening and leads by example. You can see him pictured in year 1 at KQED... it's been a long 5 years! Thank you, Matt! We're congratulating Dan Perez for an incredible 25 years working in Utility Maintenance. Dan joined KQED 25 years ago, as a mail/supply team member. From there, he held positions on the custodial and maintenance teams and currently is our building Utility Maintenance Lead. Dan has a hand in all manner of repairing and maintaining everything in our building from fixing a broken desk to performing preventative maintenance with the Building Engineering team on all of our critical systems. Dan is also a mentor to our newer facilities team members, offering advice and a helping hand with a smile.
