Ever found yourself hesitating to ask for that referral or pitch a new idea to a client? You're not alone. We recently traveled to a firm for an in-person workshop and spoke about the art of "How to Make an Ask". We explored what holds us back from asking for business, collaborating with colleagues, or expanding client engagements. The solution? Understanding our 'asks', identifying our roadblocks, and developing strategies to move past them. It's about reframing asking from a burden to an opportunity for growth. A heartfelt thank you to all the participants for your openness and engagement, and a special thanks to Kawezya Burris for seamlessly coordinating this powerful session. Your involvement truly made it impactful! #LeadershipDevelopment #ProfessionalGrowth #BusinessStrategy #ClientEngagement #EffectiveCommunication #CareerDevelopment#GrowthOpportunities #NetworkingTips

In law school, you learned how to think critically, how to analyze cases, and how to advocate for your clients. But when it comes to running a successful legal practice, there’s a whole other set of skills that can’t necessarily be taught in the classroom—skills that are essential for revenue generating success. From managing a legal team to confidently pitching your services, these practical skills are what turn your business development efforts from good to great. Yet, many attorneys find themselves lacking in these areas, often feeling overwhelmed and unsure of where to start. Here’s the good news: These skills can be learned and developed, just like any other aspect of your practice. Start by identifying the areas where you feel least confident: 🔹Is it managing your team effectively? 🔹Is it speaking persuasively in a pitch setting? 🔹Or perhaps it’s finding the time to consistently focus on business development? Once you’ve identified the gaps, seek out opportunities to learn and grow. Whether it’s through formal coaching, workshops, or simply dedicating time each week to practice, every step you take builds your confidence and competence. Over time, you’ll find that these skills feel more like second nature rather than second thought, empowering you to lead your practice with confidence and clarity. What business development skills are you currently working on improving? How are you taking steps to develop them? #LegalPractice #BusinessDevelopment #LawyerLife #AttorneySuccess #LawFirmManagement #SkillDevelopment #LeadershipInLaw #TeamManagement #LegalMarketing #PitchingSkills

Back in 2021, I was looking to level up my speaking skills, and thank god I started working with Lauri Smith. My teammate who helped find Lauri had one task. I want someone who can help me be authentic and comfortable stepping onto any stage, no matter the size, and speak for 90 minutes, with just 10 minutes' notice. Working with Lauri, this is now real. Every week, someone calls and invites me to speak virtually and around the country, and Lauri's speaking coaching helped get me there. She’s launching a podcast Soulful Speaking to guide more individuals in showing up as their authentic selves. Don’t miss out—check it out here: https://hubs.li/Q02SYV5w0

Leadership isn't about titles – it's about unlocking the potential within yourself and others. Have you ever felt confined by traditional leadership roles? Many high performers find themselves restricted in their ability to lead with authenticity. A few weeks ago, Krishtel had the privilege of leading a workshop at Seyfarth on the 5 Aspects of Leadership. Together, we explored how embracing one's authentic leadership style can unlock true leadership potential in today's evolving professional landscape. Here’s what we discussed: 🔷Leadership is not defined by titles but by influence and growth. 🔷The greatest opportunities for personal development often lie in the areas we tend to overlook. 🔷Adaptability in leadership is essential for navigating today’s fast-paced, dynamic workplace. A special thank you to Nicole Bandemer and team for making this happen, and to all the participants for bringing their authentic selves into this conversation. What aspect of your leadership style are you most eager to develop? Let’s keep the conversation going—share your ideas in the comment section below! #LeadershipGrowth #PersonalDevelopment #LeadershipWorkshop #LeadershipDevelopment#GrowthMindset#LeadershipJourney#ProfessionalGrowth#ReflectiveLeadership#

Ever feel like your personality doesn’t fit into the world of business development and sales? It’s easy to compare yourself to how others do it and think, “That’s just not me.” But here’s the truth: trying to fit into someone else’s mold is a false narrative that can lead to inauthenticity and ultimately less success. The reality is, there’s no one-size-fits-all approach to business development. It’s about finding what works for you and leveraging your unique strengths. Here’s how to shift the perspective: 🔷Embrace your individuality: What qualities make you stand out? Use them to your advantage. 🔷Redefine success on your terms: How can you approach business development in a way that feels natural and authentic to you? 🔷Focus on genuine connections: How can you build relationships that are rooted in trust and mutual respect? By staying true to yourself, you’ll not only feel more comfortable but also more effective in your business development efforts. Authenticity is your greatest asset—don’t let comparison hold you back. #BusinessDevelopment #Authenticity #LegalIndustry #CareerGrowth #StayTrueToYou

Staying at the top isn’t just about strategy—it’s about resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness. In Julian Hayes II's recent article for Forbes, "CEO Tenure Success: 4 Habits To Thrive In A High-Pressure World," the focus is on how leaders—whether you’re a CEO or in any executive role—can truly thrive in today’s fast-paced and high-stakes environment. This article outlines four essential habits to not just endure but extend your impact and success: 🔷 Think of Yourself as an Executive Athlete: Your well-being is critical. Prioritize both your physical and mental health to perform at your best. 🔷 Don’t Lose Your Identity: Nurture your interests and relationships beyond work. Staying grounded keeps you connected to who you are outside the office. 🔷 Embrace and Leverage Your Personal Brand: Build and refine your personal brand to foster trust and authentic connection in your leadership. 🔷 Stay Curious and Flexible: Constant learning and adaptability will keep you from becoming stagnant, allowing you to grow in ways you may not expect. I encourage you to check out the full article and reflect on how these habits can support your journey in leadership. Last month, I had the privilege of leading a transformative workshop at Sheppard Mullin's retreat, where we dove into the 5 Aspects of Authentic Leadership & Effective Communication (DISC). One thing became clear: traditional leadership paradigms often confine us to predefined roles, limiting the true expression of our potential. Together, we explored authentic leadership styles, using the DISC Assessment to gain deeper insights into communication and behavior. It was a chance for everyone to reflect on how their unique leadership traits shape their interactions and discover new ways to grow—both personally and professionally. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Moe Keshavarzi, Christie Cácere, Melissa Burgess, and all the incredible participants. Your willingness to embrace vulnerability, challenge yourselves, and adopt new perspectives was truly inspiring. Your engagement made a significant impact! I’m excited to continue this journey of growth alongside all of you. #Leadership #PersonalGrowth #EffectiveCommunication #LeadershipDevelopment #DISCAssessment
