Meet Aim Terranova, our newest Planner! Having 15 years of experience in the field of social services related to disability, he joins the planning department with a particular focus on the human angle of planning. Speaking on why he changed careers from Case Manager to Planner, Aim explained: “I wanted to understand how the built environment affects people. To me, that is an extension of my psychology background. If you think about going from the individual level to the big picture of how a community is built, something as simple as how close a patient is to their doctor’s office can have huge impacts.” Aim earned a master’s degree in Urban and Regional Planning to explore more of this idea. “Where we build and how we accommodate a variety of needs can influence so many of the outcomes we see on the personal level. I hope to include the many needs of the people in Lancaster County here at the planning department as we plan for the future of our communities!” Jumping right into the fray, he is now working on the draft for the upcoming Manheim Central Regional Plan and getting involved in our social media team. Welcome aboard, Aim!

Thank you to the interested residents who came to our Open House for the Traffic Safety Action Plan! We had extended discussions on how the many pieces of transportation planning fit together and our plan to reduce serious crashes across the county. We also gathered some in-depth input on locations across the county that our data flagged as High-Injury. This was also the debut of our list of countermeasures that the plan will support – stay tuned to learn more! If you missed this event, you can still take our Traffic Safety Survey until November 19: https://lnkd.in/edGGa68T

This is the power of Thinking Beyond Boundaries! You can now take bike share between Manheim Township, East Lampeter, and Lancaster City! You may not see the line between these three municipalities while biking, but it takes some serious collaboration to run a program like this between them. Nice work!
Big news! 🚲⚡️ The City of Lancaster has expanded the Bike It Lancaster bike share program, bringing new options for active transportation to residents and visitors. As part of this expansion, 25 electric bikes, or e-bikes, have joined the fleet, providing an accessible, low-effort alternative to traditional bikes. The program will also extend its service area to include neighboring Manheim Township and East Lampeter. Since its launch in 2017, Bike It Lancaster has made it easy for users to take short trips across the city using active transit. With the Movatic app, riders can pick up a bike from any station and return it to any other station. The addition of e-bikes offers riders a faster, more convenient way to travel, especially when navigating hills or covering longer distances. Without a membership, e-bike rentals will be $3 for 30 minutes. With a membership, e-bike rides are $1.50 for the first hour. Riders must follow all traffic laws. The expanded bike share network now includes three stations in Manheim Township and one in East Lampeter. Users can pick up or drop off pedal bikes at stations located at Stehli Silk Mill, Stauffer Park, the Foundry Apartments and St. Joseph University. To learn more about the program, download the app, or locate a station, visit www.bikeitlancaster.com. #bikeitlanc #cityoflancasterpa
