Where a Last Hope Becomes a New Beginning.
About us
Last Hope K9 Rescue (LHK9) is a 501(c)(3), 100% volunteer run, foster based, all breed rescue. We are dedicated to saving abandoned, neglected, and abused dogs from high-kill shelters in Central Arkansas and beyond. Though our rescue efforts are focused in the Central Arkansas area, we also serve as a resource for local dog surrenders, shelters, and special rescue efforts in other areas. We don’t discriminate on the basis of age, pre-existing medical conditions, or breed, because every dog deserves to know love. As the literal “last hope” of the dogs we serve, our southern fosters pull dogs and puppies from partner shelters in Arkansas. While in foster, each dog receives love, care, and medical treatment, then receives a health clearance and transports to New England. After a mandatory 48-hour quarantine stay and an additional health clearance, each dog is picked up and fostered by a northern foster family who serves as a gateway to his/her adoptive home, affectionately known as a FURever home. LHK9 was established in March of 2012. Since our foundation, we have saved the lives of over 11,000 dogs and we could not do our work without amazing people like you. Please adopt, foster, donate, advocate and educate. You can make a difference!

LHK9 is proud to be chosen as a #SNELovesPets partner in 2024! This October, we’re partnering with Subaru of New England for their annual #SNELovesPets Campaign! As part of their Subaru Love Promise and Subaru Loves Pets commitment, their campaign shows that whether they live in our homes or in the wild, Subaru is committed to keeping animals across New England safe and healthy. The #SNELovesPets Campaign benefits shelters and rescues in all six New England states by providing an opportunity to raise both awareness and funds. Subaru of New England hopes this social media campaign will encourage others to adopt so shelter animals can find their forever homes. The campaign is also a fundraising opportunity for twelve non-profit animal shelters and rescues throughout New England (including us!). How can you help Last Hope? Getting involved is easy - and we encourage all pet owners to participate! We know you probably have dozens of pictures or videos of your best friend on your phone’s camera roll. During the month of October, post your pet on Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), or TikTok using the hashtag #SNELovesPets (be sure the post is public for visibility). For each unique post, Subaru of New England will pledge $5 to local New England rescues like us, up to $75,000 total! The goal is to receive 15,000 photos, ensuring each animal shelter and rescue will receive $6,250! At the end of this year’s campaign, Subaru of New England will have surpassed an 9-year cumulative donation of over $575,000 to local New England shelters. The more photos submitted, the more we can raise awareness on the importance of adopting!
