Sculpting Dreams: The Art of Yari Montes "In my studio, I become a better person. That's what the clay does for me, it makes me a better person," Yari Montes. "Above all, ceramics has taught me to be patient, to accept reality, and to accept things as they are in the moment. Because you don’t have the final say; the kiln and the fire do," Yari Montes. To a young artist contemplating a future in art, Yari shares some advice: 'First and foremost, constancy, constancy, constancy. Zero doubt. Please trust yourself, trust your instincts, and listen to that little voice inside you that says what is right, encouraging you to continue, to do this, to experiment. Don’t be afraid. And build community, because in art, you need to create community so everyone can support each other,'" Yari Montes. https://lnkd.in/gVyv2Rzb #ceramic #ceramicsculpture #sculpture #art #mexico #oaxaca #clay #clayartist #mexicanartist #oaxacaart

There is so much talent in Mexico, with many styles and countless photographers who are still not very well known, but one day they will be. #Oaxaca, #Mexico: Francisco Ramos : Visual Metaphors of a Contemporary Zapotec “Juchitán is a city worth living in; it’s a traditional and rebellious town,” Francisco Ramos. Francisco Ramos hails from Juchitán, a town rich in Zapotec culture located in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. Growing up surrounded by his maternal family, who were campesinos engaged in trade, he developed a profound connection to his roots. His grandfather, a significant figure in his life, served as a source of inspiration, instilling in him a deep appreciation for their cultural heritage. “My work prominently features everyday life and the farming fields in the town. My grandfather instilled in me a sensitivity, respect, and attachment to Mother Earth, being a campesino who understood the life cycle of each crop on the family ranch. The images I have of him in my personal imagination are of him arriving home in the afternoons with the harvest of corn, sesame, squash, melon, and watermelon, depending on the season, and all his grandchildren would rush to help him unload his harvest.” https://lnkd.in/gxMqXe3W #Juchitan #Oaxaca #Istmo #Culture #Mexico #Fotografia #Portrait #Retrato #MexicanCulture #Culture #Documentary #MexicoDesconocido #LifeStyle #FolkArt #ZapotecCulture #Latino #Barrio #MexicoMagico #oax @GobOax Images Credit: Francisco Ramos

Chasing Light: Lucia Acero’s Visual Chronicles. “I am motivated by my surroundings and what I see,” Lucia Acero. Lucia Acero’s interest in light awakened during her adolescence. She loved sitting by the large windows in her room, observing the particles that danced in the rays of the sun. Over time, this fascination led her to photography. “Rather than photographer, I like the term “visual chronicler.” My moments with the camera are among the ones I enjoy the most, as they make me appreciate life, the present, and its fleeting nature," Lucia Acero. https://lnkd.in/girgnNZA #mexicanwomenphotographers #streetphotographers #mexico #fotografia #cultura #arte

Creating Worlds: The Visionary Art of Rosendo Vega. “The thrilling part starts when the fabric arrives, when my priming comes in, and when my oils are delivered. Being there, feeling, and touching the materials from the very beginning amplifies my excitement as I start to pick up the oils, brushes, and spatulas to create the artwork. The smell of all those materials excites me; just being in my studio surrounded by them fills me with emotion,” Rosendo Vega. Originally from Mexico, Rosendo Vega was born in Guerrero and has lived in Oaxaca City for 35 years, where he developed his artistic practice. For over 20 years, he has experimented with and developed a technique using reusable materials finished with resin. His artistic work encompasses techniques such as oil painting, engraving, woodcut, sculpture, lithography, watercolor, and mixed media. https://lnkd.in/gZamnZge #artworks #artedeoaxaca #artmuseum #mexicanartwork #mexico #oaxaca #arte #art #painting @rosendo_vega_artista_plastico Images of paintings: Rosendo Vega
