This October 14, 2024, Latinos In Transit proudly honor Indigenous Peoples' Day by celebrating the rich culture, heritage, and contributions of Indigenous communities across the nation. We also recognize the vital role public transportation plays in supporting mobility, independence, and access to essential services on and off reservations. From transit systems on tribal lands to partnerships with Indigenous nations, public transportation fosters community connection, economic opportunity, and helps preserve cultural traditions. Today, we stand in solidarity, celebrating the resilience, heritage, and legacy of Indigenous peoples in shaping a more inclusive and equitable future. 

Continuing with the Hispanic Heritage Month activities, Latinos In Transit staff, board of directors, and members had an incredible time today in Riverside, California, at the Hispanic Coalition of Small Businesses (HCSB) celebrating the Latinicima Award recipients! We are especially thrilled to congratulate Alva Carrasco, one of tonight’s recipients, for her outstanding contributions to the public transportation industry, including her work with Latinos In Transit and other organizations. She was presented the award by the inaugural recipient and LIT member Elizabeth Solís-Campana. Adelante, Alva—this recognition is so well deserved!
