Are you passionate about expanding access to dynamic science opportunities for all students? 🧪 Apply to join our new Next Generation Science Educators Network launching this November! Science is the key to unlocking new futures. But today, too few students have access to advanced science experiences that spark their curiosity, build their confidence, and cultivate the skills and knowledge needed for burgeoning science careers. Together, we'll work to bridge this gap in a FREE community of practice for science educators to provide students with the tools to explore, understand, and shape the world around them. 🌎 Learn more: https://hubs.la/Q02RGCRL0 #STEMeducation #scienceteaching

About us
Leading Educators partners with school systems and states to nurture excellent teaching in every classroom. We leverage research to surround educators with intentional collaboration and support systems to get better together and get life-changing results for students. The future is changing rapidly, and it also promises students new opportunities not seen by past generations. If their educators help them develop the knowledge, sense of self, care for others, and confidence to solve complex challenges, they can access opportunity and create a better world. We exist to help school systems deliver on that promise. No school system is the same, but they can all become dynamic learning organizations where all students and adults are set up to achieve greatly, together. We draw from our expertise as career educators, coaches, and designers to help educators to practice what they teach and plan for the future. We partner with leaders to offer a range of customized supports, including strategic advising, ongoing curriculum-based professional learning design and implementation, and coaching, to spark transformation at scale. By building on strengths and bolstering the conditions for educators to succeed, we ensure that transformational leadership, practices, and results endure without us.

🌍 Global challenges like climate change, public health, and infrastructure demand a new generation of scientists from diverse backgrounds who can prioritize solutions that works for all. Science education lays the groundwork for realizing that future. While federal funding, NGSS adoption, and new curricular materials have emerged as important levers for addressing disparities, course offerings are lagging. ⚡ To address this, Leading Educators is offering FREE, cohort-based support to help school teams deliver high-quality, student-led science experiences. This #nationalprincipalsmonth, we offer a new recipe for school leader success. As a career coach and former principal who devoted her doctoral research to understanding teacher efficacy, cultural receptivity, and burnout, M. Keli Swearingen is motivated to help school leaders find balance between operations, instructional leadership, and coaching so they can lead thriving teams. In this new paper, Dr. Swearingen shares a brief personal story, a recipe for data-driven coaching, and a real-life example of the approach in action. https://hubs.la/Q02T1jg-0

Teachers are key to helping students develop a strong mathematical identity, which shapes their future aspirations. However, long-held societal beliefs about who is or isn’t a “math person” often limit students' potential. A recent article in TIME magazine highlighted common misconceptions that hold students back: 🛑 Myth #1: Math is all about speed. Pressure to be fast often makes students feel they don't belong in math. 🛑 Myth #2: Math is a set of tricks. This mindset prevents students from gaining deep understanding. 🛑 Myth #3: There’s only one way to do math. In truth, flexible thinking and multiple strategies lead to stronger problem-solving skills.] In the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD), we’re partnering to shift from the traditional “I do, we do, you do” model to a student-driven approach. Students tackle real-world problems and collaborate, building confidence and a stronger math identity. 🔗 Learn how your district can follow their lead to cultivate excellence in math: https://hubs.la/Q02SKX-H0

AI might be the next shiny new thing to flash across the collective consciousness of education and then fade as quickly as [fill in the blank with whatever you want- I'm not trying to start a fight 🙂]. Or, it might radically transform the ways students process information, critically engage with what they're learning, and express their ideas and creativity in ways we're only beginning to imagine. And there are a million possibilities in between. That's why Leading Educators and The Learning Accelerator are launching the School Teams AI Collaborative - to explore these possibilities together, to cut through (some of) the hype and test practical, impactful practices that leverage AI to elevate teaching and learning in measurable ways. From highlighting real AI-enabled classroom practices to grappling with tough questions around implementation, efficacy, and safety, the AI Collab is creating space for dialogue, experimentation, and shared learning that centers what students need to be successful in school and in life. We’re building this together because the potential is huge, but so is the responsibility to get it right. And we could not ask for a more incredible group of schools to learn alongside. I'm so excited to share our 19 inaugural schools as we prepare to kick off together in Denver next week. I can't wait to see where this work takes us this year! 🎉

Open source AI tools offer new possibilities for how we teach and learn, but new learning for educators will be key to effective and student-centered adoption. According to a survey by Educators for Excellence, only 14% of teachers currently feel confident with AI, while 58% are looking for more training, particularly in lesson planning and differentiated instruction. Our recent AI Design Sprint with Playlab AI brought together more than 100 educators, students, district leaders, peer organizations, and philanthropic support organizations to explore how AI can reinforce and elevate the uniquely human aspects of teaching. The possible futures for AI in education are many--thrilled to share our inaugural schools in the School Teams AI Collaborative. Leading Educators in partnership with The Learning Accelerator kicks off our Collaborative next week in Denver with 19 schools and over 80+ participants. Participants will work together to design, test, and refine ideas, instructional practices, and learning activities that integrate AI, focusing on strengthening teaching and learning. I believe there are ways AI can and should be harnessed to both reduce the cognitive load for educators and teachers while also allowing them to engage in meaningful cognitive lift, creativity, and I also believe there's so much more we don't yet know. And I can't wait to explore this alongside these teams. https://hubs.ly/Q02SxDPM0 #ai #aieducation #edtech #aifutures
