Earlier this week, Amira Choice Champlin hosted Senator John Hoffman, chair of the Human Services Finance & Policy Committee. He was joined by Brett K. Anderson, President & CEO of Ebenezer, Abby Schulz, LNHA, LALD, Executive Director at Amira Choice Champlin, and Erin Huppert, VP of Advocacy at LeadingAge Minnesota. They had a great conversation about important investments in 2023 for Elderly Waiver and the need to ensure payment is indexed to current wages, as well as the important role that Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) play in serving seniors in assisted living communities. Sen. Hoffman also had the opportunity to meet with resident constituents of Amira Choice. Sen. Hoffman will be returning to the Capitol in January for the 2025 legislative session, since he is not up for re-election this year.

🌟 Exciting News for Minnesota! 🌟 The LeadingAge Minnesota Foundation has secured nearly $1 million to bridge pathways between new Americans and senior care employers, thanks to a recent grant award from DHS Grant, Equity, Access and Research Division! 🎉 With Minnesota's aging population growing rapidly, this timely initiative will help address critical staffing shortages in senior care. 🏥 This grant will support new Americans in finding meaningful careers within the senior care sector by providing resources such as translated training materials, employee assistance funds, and other supportive services. It will also empower senior care employers to build capacity in recruiting and retaining diverse populations and foster inclusive, welcoming communities. By strengthening the connection between new Americans and senior care providers, this initiative is set to transform the lives of Minnesota’s seniors and the communities they call home. 🧑🦳👩⚕️ Let’s celebrate this vital step forward in enriching our caregiving workforce and ensuring quality care for our aging population! 🌍❤️ P.S. A few photos from a visit with representatives from the State Department for Diaspora Affairs | Kenya earlier this year.
